Oh, all the grievances of grief
When she is sad,
Oh, all the gladness
That her happiness produces
When she’s joyful;
But the sadness of her lamentations

are still hot June nights
your hair matted to
your brow
send me to that place
when I loved
crazily
lazily
when the music evaporated
into star specked skies
endlessly
like my memories

Reach deeper now;
Express a plan,

And she laughs away, huffing snowstorm
across icy clouds, then leaving me surprised
in a furnace of heat: though I am annoyed
by her impulsive moods-- rainy, sun- kissed , volcanic--
my exasperation has no force against
this woman’s elemental power.
