Viceroy butterfly, remarkable
dead ringer for the Monarch
eggs overwinter, a rolled-up leaf
displaying their mother's motif
To capture beauty,
is to go to sleep with black,
red, and gold powder
from butterfly wings aloft
on your mind... not on your hands~
The Monarch
Haiku by Tom

The butterfly sat
drinking from the mornings dew,
soon having it's fill.
Floating on the winds
of summer, he glides with ease
towards the flowers;
selecting one he fancies,
monarch sits upon his throne

A
Monarch
butterfly
Flitting past me
brushed joy on my face
and kissed the morn
on a breeze
we were
one.

rain
cooling
sprouts begin
to flagrant blooms
monarch butterflies
across garden
dense gray clouds
shadow
rain
in blankest hour of night, a monarch sashays on winged dance...flaming the sky.

Gaius Julius Caesar
was not a real people pleaser
he tried to set himself up as a monarch
but never made it past the Ides of March
oh my lord a story so stark
familiar hoof marks stab at a monarch
do what you must
passion will always trump lust
donald will not draw my ballot mark
Lovely garden giving me delight
Sprinkled with vegetables, flowers too
Dirt therapy digging with all my might.
Monarch butterflies join me, robin’s coo.
Orange and Black wings
Spreaded by the elegant
Monarch butterfly
Seen in an afternoon walk
After a showery day

Delighta did not know whose instructions to take.
Hummingbird in her left ear or monarch in her right?
She picked up a book of faerie spells and ignored them away.
I wish I could be human
the monarch felt this thought between tulips
she awoke in the morning queenly in full dress
everyone wanted rules
all she wanted was nectar
The beautiful
monarch butterfly
reminds me of a stained glass
depiction of Jesus
high above me
on a cathedral wall
made blurry by the height
and my imagination.
Black trimmed orange winging,
float alighting on milkweed.
A hushed waltz on blooms.
she leans flexibly
as a monarch butterfly or luna moth leans
standing against a backdrop of rainbow sun
a faerie such as the world has never seen
but immediately loves
we
heard
the
wings of
the
monarch butterfly
beating together
as
she approached
the
ash pink rose
to
taste
the
nectar of the gods
