a pernicious spell
of blistering dry weather
food prices soaring
written July 27, 2021
I am the US dollar
And I'm shrinking fast
One because of
Inflation and high interest rates
Pretty soon I won't
Be worth anything
Looking towards the sky
asking God for help
we have lost sight
in the fact
that he will always provide
as the prices keep soaring
Pennies, nickels and dimes
no longer take up our time
Even a quarter's value falls shorter
~ no longer buys cheap valentines
wings of the ocean
rock’n roll lullaby dusk -
seagull inflation

Without a fair means to endure
Inflation puts some in the sewer
The Fed might raise rates
Until it abates
But their record makes us unsure
Five bucks ain’t
what it used to be
and neither am I
time and inflation
have taken their toll
but I’m still here
for you.
Dollar bills flying out of the air
Trillions for all of us to share
Best send some more
The fast food store
Took a million for my dinner there
Inflation is out of control
Because miners can't sell their coal
Our earth's getting warmer
But Trump is a charmer
And knows we need a deeper hole
Christmastime is here again, but this year there's an inflation hike
Santa can't afford to feed his reindeer or pay his elves, now they're all on strike
Inflation digs and causes pain,
why it happens boggles the brain;
You all need help. We know it;
Tip a talented poet
so we can write and keep you sane.
Here's a good question...
So, what goes up must come down?
How about taxes?
Only for the rich!
Certainly not inflation,
That never comes down.
Inflation climb and poll’s descent.
He needs help - his back, way too bent.
How low can one go
‘neath the limbo pole?
Old Prez is at thirty percent.
A hundred dollars was more than enough
To buy all my groceries and stuff
The bagboy doesn't stock it
For it fits in my pocket
A hundred dollars for spam is too rough
First we had ‘Pennies from Heaven’
Then it was the ‘March of Dimes’
Now the Tooth Fairy leaves five dollars
Inflation improves life over time
Banks have been creating quite a chore,
Always giving out credit more and more;
Always did intend;
Extend and extend;
Created inflation making us become poor.

We live with inflation because of our President's contagion*
*the communication of an attitude or emotional state among a number of people, aka Mass Psychosis...
To get my mind off war and inflation
I’ve watched the trial for defamation.
But from what I’ve heard
that scorned Amber Turd
should be on trial for defecation!
One problem with gasoline is, it smells
Another is, prices are high as hell --
But a real good friend of mine
Pays just a buck forty-nine --
Says he stocks up daily at Taco Bell
My plans for a road that's less traveled
are looking a little unraveled;
inflation is roaring
and fuel costs are soaring...
Yikes, six hundred bucks for the gravel!
I remember when a penny felt to me like a poundBut now due to inflation it's the other way around
Indiana Shaw . . . : /
Paraphrasing old Albert Einstein,
"Compound interest's man's greatest invention".
But you'll be financially in trouble,
Expecting your buying power to double,
Because he never factored in for inflation.
Hey diddle-diddle
Municipalities fiddle
Crime goes unchecked
Voters' nerves are wrecked
Twee-diddly-dum
Congress sucks its thumb
Inflation soars still higher
Blue-ribbon committees enquire...
Optimism is rising
alongside inflation
Elation is spreading
across our great nation
It’s starting to look like
there will be a rerun
in two years of Trump vs. Biden
~ to learn who really won
i posted this poem and got a hundred instant hits ~ my wrist’s sore
next time i need self inflation ~ i’ll tap my muse and beg a bit more
and carpal tunnel sufferers out there ~ these monokus don’t ignore
