Bones
jagged,
scabbed up skin;
But oh that fire;
Diamond in the rough;
Faded tattoos
bloody smile
simply
shine.
Your eyes fill rooms with
Unimaginable treasures
Your heart full of sparkle
Russell Sivey
we are uncut gems
diamonds in the rough, but we
sparkle when polished
our hidden talents to be
discovered by the world
One can be too many,
a hundred not enough
When truth battles fear
—all diamonds in the rough
(Villanova Pennsylvania: August, 2019)
I can never thank you enough
For helping me with my stuff
You have a brilliant mind
And are so very kind
For helping this diamond in the rough
A network of supportive allies.
True friends urging you to be you.
Precious few to be treasured.

How could I forger everything?
What in the world made stress my king!
He allowed it for a reason
Things will change with season
A diamond in the rough
I must be extra tough!
we're all lumps of coal
...................with a goal ,
extreme heat and pressure ,
after a lenghtly time ,
reveals it's hidden treasure......
a diamond in the rough.......
Pain, torture is rough
with diamond in the rough
life is not enough
we drill with slough
tough enough we do
curious and patient ado
difficulties becomes my boo
and blood is my goo.
Diamond in the rough,
Shades, purple and gold collide,
A lovely sunset.

Written for my husband's contest, "Diamond in the rough"
Girl you are so fine
Most of the time happy, rarely narky or with a bark
You are definitely a diamond in the rough
And deep down you are iron tough
A spark of light
You shine into my heart

Power's out, sure hope it's fixed soon
Got poems in my beano just bursting to bloom
Some award winning stuff
Like Shakespeare in the rough
Stardom awaits but need power to resume
Power's out, sure hope it's fixed soon
Got poems in my beano just bursting to bloom
Some award winning stuff
Like Shakespeare in the rough
Stardom awaits but need power to resume
Rambunctious
Devil in disguise
Yet this boy is so caring
He is also so considerate
He’s a diamond in the rough
My athletic boy
Proud of him
Septet syllable count is 3,5,7,9,7,5,3, unrhymed
Cut and polished by your past
formed under intense pressure,
A jewel hidden in the stress
changes dark to luminous;
Each facet catches the light
you slowly begin to shine;
A diamond in the rough.
Power's gone out, sure hope it's fixed soon
Got poems in my beano just bursting to bloom
Some award winning stuff
Like Shakespeare in the rough
Stardom awaits but need approval to resume
A diamond in the rough
Both feet in depth to help it up
But no matter how much I scrubbed
I couldn't wash off the mud
Though my teary eyes could see its bright form
It's wrapped in mud so I gave it up
A diamond in the rough........
precision cut par excellence
balanced , polished , brilliance
.............lustre magnificence.......
and to think , such beauty
all began as a .....lump of coal .
No need to brag when you're writing great stuff
It's obvious to all, you're a cut above the scruffs
The ones who pretend
To be poets, they offend
But I still remain humble as diamond in the rough
I write for the diamonds,
all quartz to be damned
The populace deafened,
and jaded demand
That anything selfish,
their wills to be pawned
My jewels though not many
—sparkle beyond
(The New Room: February, 2021)
To find me you must dive in the deep
Eye of beholder or volcanic peak
Am I just a boulder
Under scrutiny
Mine me with your shoulder
Rapist break into me
Like liquid lava hot rolling
A seventy five mile deep digging creep
Your a beautiful soul more precious then any gold.
Your a diamond in the rough
And heaven's missing angel
Its as if the Almighty God has given me his most beautiful as a loan and so I claim you as my own..
Pixie poet
a faded diamond lost in the rough.
alone with no happiness, no hope, no love.
destined to spend an eternity invisible and alone.
lost forever, existing only as a drone.
a hollow shell of what used to be.
a faded diamond, a beautiful memory.

He Found A Cubic Zirconia In The Rough
he sat at the bar looking over at her tee
in bold letters it read catch and release me
after a few drinks he was game
closing on the brink of her flame
his shrank as she imparted a handling fee
