Toddler training
In the
Game of golf.
Earlier than the average bear.
Ran onto the stage at four
With a golf club made
Only for little cubs.
One of a kind
Destined to become
Snead in spades.

In Spades

Though he looked mean Pookie-Lou was okay,
Deemed bookie by, Sookie-Sue things looked grave….
Thought untrue was Pookie-Lou
Alas, the tale was not true,
In truth, Pookie-Lou just loved to play spades….

A Litany of Lies

Cometh the hour
Cometh the man,
So came the hour,
His fiasco began.

A litany of lies
Spew from his mouth,
Any leadership qualities
Swiftly went south.

Hubris in spades
But cannot comprehend,
What his people need
He seems quite round the bend.

So what to do
Well we do what we must,
Move forward with hope
For in God we trust.

Death In the Doorway

death's stood in the doorway
but i'm no good with words
so my pleas for mercy
come in the form of
fresh bandages on old wounds
and plastering my vices on greeting cards

though the reaper argues
that if there was any value
in a butterfly whose wings
are pinned to a corkboard
or a soul with one foot in the grave
and the other being fed to wolves
he'd carry his mercy in spades

Financing the Change

Sip this description
Flipping indigenous misfits,
Imprints or footprints in sound

The valley out of bounds
Where real world blues
Are castigated in spades
Dark hazes rearrange the page
Pressing
Prime poetry always
Lifted in a miraculous tumble

While battling limbs plunder
Im just herculean on this mystery fit
Having no eye for embellishment
making answers split
And financing the change

Premium Member Elusive Fifth Card

I have come so close, yet so far again. I have an ace, king queen, and jack, but no ten. Those royal cards are all of the same suit. Each one of them is in spades to boot. That fifth card to me is of no use. It is one of the hearts, and only a deuce. A ten of spades would look so great right now. If only it will pop up on the screen somehow. Yes, that card will really appear fine. With that ten of spades, a royal flush is mine!

Mass Machinery of a Hydrocarbon Dream

Blinking lights,
Grey faces
         worn down by
   an endless chain
of encounters with machines
     Social life becomes
a checkerboard
     of electrical impulses
and responses
     Happiness has always
                 been elusive
But do we really think
         that we can
cause it to turn on and
        off like qa lightbulb
   Poe talked of science
    stealing his "summer dream"
We know his point

A Call For Humility

I don't think about Tr*** often
I don't like to

My guess is a third of you
are at this time
ticked
triggered
troubled
torn
turned off
or
tickled

Avery few feel that
tripled in spades

And the rest have buckled up
in a mingled mess of
confusion
curiosity
or careless concern

Take your pick

Only the most humble
learn their lessons anyway,
and earn a table
at the hearts of the yearning

We're all hurting

If only we could learn to listen

Arrogant Annabelle

She looked in her mirror and
declared her self, "hot."
Poor soul, unaware that what
we do, impresses not a soul.
Naught!
Bobbing above all humanity,
Not one scintilla of humility.
She has it all in spades.
Other humans could never reach
her grade.
So in judgement, she stands.
Whilst standing on ever so shifting sands.
There's only one god in the universe.
To think we are Him is so pathetic and perverse!

Tuff Girl

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet
drinking a mocha late,
but when that old spider sat down beside her
she pulled out her Mace and let spray!

That arachnid took flight to her great delight
having learned his lesson in spades.
Miss Muffet was tough not made of fluff
her skills on defense made the grade.

Now this comely young Miss did indeed want a kiss
but not from a hairy old bug.
The romance she sought would be dearly bought
by a guy that she actually dug.

Go To Bed

Lost in spades of ice cream waves
Remember times the moonlight saves
Wondering where you've gone astray
Calling ground control so far away
Here you speak as I am stumbling
Even clearer when you're mumbling
A kindness too big to be contained
Left craters here for who remained
Taking the heat, facing the fire
Catch bumblebees from somewhere higher
See the forest, run the trees
Roll in meadows, breathe at ease
Swim the rivers, straight ahead
Come back to me and go to bed

Premium Member It's All Out There

Some con men blew smoke
Trusting it was adequate
Vulnerable and uncertain
We gambled from the same stack
For the beauty of your game

Men with no tells flat line their hearts
For a better chance in spades
Calling our bluffs, upping the ante
Some will fold, others will match
We have seen each others faces

Our cards presented on the table
Laden with truth, sobering
Round tables offered many suitors
I complement it, a ring of surprise
For your hand, your love, I am all in

Held

Lemon cakes for my parade.
Tea with soft dreams of hope in spades.
Violet dances wanting to sing.
Harmony in seven days I welcome my shadow Side.
Doom averted crimson dawn avowed.
Yellow Sparrow and my Blue Jay flying toward the horizon.
Two hearts sing random dancing and rays of bliss.
The moon bows to the rising sun.
Our hearts are one.
In darkness I escaped death and found My Lord.
Unconditional love is real.
She will always be in my heart I will see her in the next life I guess.
