This is not about anyone in particular but anyone can use it if they feel like proposing on poetry soup. I hope I have not taken this idea from anyone else. I surely did not mean to do so.
Some con men blew smoke
Trusting it was adequate
Vulnerable and uncertain
We gambled from the same stack
For the beauty of your game

Men with no tells flat line their hearts
For a better chance in spades
Calling our bluffs, upping the ante
Some will fold, others will match
We have seen each others faces

Our cards presented on the table
Laden with truth, sobering
Round tables offered many suitors
I complement it, a ring of surprise
For your hand, your love, I am all in

Double down and count your chips my brother! nice metaphor-ia! what does "men with no tells flat line their hearts" mean. Every now and then I run across some language barriers on the Soup. ---Hey, You got ta' know when ta' Hold Em', Know when to Fold Em"....much respect ~JSL

Hey there, JS! it means a couple things. Since everyone is dealt a hand and life is a poker game, that particular line means if you don't reveal or express yourself to others what are you representing exactly? You might as well be dead. You have to be true to yourself but stay reserved until the right time too or risk being hurt. That's all.

Karl - "a ring of surprise" "from the same stack' "flat line their heart"- I could go on but then I'd be repeating this entire beauty of a poem. In you go to my favorites. love, Kathy
