Pool Hall
Balls crash together,
bounce from corner to corner.
Bets placed one by one.

keeper yells last call,
smell of cheap smokes and stale beer.
what hustlers like here....

Hustlers Cruisin' the Land
"They Live", for now , but not forever.
In vain, these hustlers cruise the land,
as they use others to build
their glass houses upon the sand.

My Block
Sirens and metro buses
Detectives and narcs
Hustlers and thieves.

Friends and foes
Currency and narcotics
Bums and dope fiends.

Soft or hard
Packaged or dumped
White or green.

Love and disdain
Loyalty and trust
Hope and shattered dreams
This is my block....

Premium Member The Gentrification of Main Street
Main Street had a classic pool hall,
Hustlers, chisellers, and those who like to fool all,
Second-hand stores along the way,
And the old Helen's Grill greasy spoon café.

Now, Main Street's no longer the same;
Developers and yuppies have changed the game.
They say it’s all for common good,
But the oldsters miss their good old neighbourhood....

Communion
In the midst of males
The grey haired meant to move
In accordance with the rule
Legislated by nature

With kola nut blessing it starts
Through pouring of librations
To call the watching sleepers
It just invites

And unites
The hustlers and the sleepers
For we all have shares
In the unity of the parties

May the light burn still
And the keeper, keep it still...

Premium Member It's Not Byron's Fault, Anyway
Byron didn't wait for me.
Across the hall Becky tried not to look.
Chalk was everywhere.
Knuckles was already suspended.
Trailing the varsity jackets I
Oscillated between chic and irreverent.
Someone yelled, "barf!"
Charades and hustlers cover every inch.
How am I going to find my locker?
Oswald points me to "304."
Oblong and wrong I walk there.
Looking forward, looking backward....

Lonely Nights
it's so cold
but yet
i'm covered with a quilt
My soul quiver
Awaiting for you to
Come and seal the compassion
That rise in my heart
Love and trust
Helped build
But why you leave me
TO wander off to the night
With them hookers hustlers
Pimps,hoes and dikes
who hate you
Don't care
The ones who stole your life
Yeah' and left me
Covered in these
Lonely nights
in fear...

Coming Home
thorns roam across my forehead
a thousand squirms prevaricate,
of the silhouetted sun dance
the ice cream man can only melt
hounds and the hustlers
rejoice under beam
the dead had quietly spoke
confession talks falsely
the hour is late
two adders are approaching
the wind began to howl
are we not the victims of the war
the steeple guard reigned
clearing the morning air

Hustle
Every ten year old needs a hustle
The cattle yards the Friday shuffle

The farmer need a sandwich for lunch
Or a horse they've got a hunch

I will run to get your dinner
Or place the bet for the sinner

It makes no difference to me
I am just hustling for a tuppenny

In the back door of bookie shop
Two Shillings I did drop

Over to the copper fiddle
For the ham off the griddle

I hand Paddy his slip and meat
A sixpence on the hustlers beat...
