The Mast - Part 1
The Mast
Raised on the rock of Golgotha,
For all eyes to see,
Sinners hung like lizards
stuck on a tree.
What song for its prey
Will the Grey Shrike sing?
Avast! It's the Lamb of God,
dragging his mast and beam.

Eternal Timber
The Cross is our crutch: we are lamed and maimed,
Crippling sin in our soul,
Defiled and scourged, our faith defamed,
Golgotha our gloried goal.
The Cross is a bludgeon for smiting down
Death in his sable gown.
It’s Roman-hewn and Jesus-borne,
Encircled with blood-flecked thorn....

For the darkhairgirl Erline
Upon awakening I seem to be in a different
world,a highway in the desert.
A hillside looms in front of me
Golgotha in the present.
A lady without water,a chain I cannot bear.
A tower growing all of rocks,
to watch the silence.
Growing taller but not wiser
I tried to see her there

Starshine In Parme`s Eye`s
Starshine in Parme`s Eye`s
Starshine in Parme`s Eye`s
For my Friend Parme
GOD own`s us both, both you and I.
All the stars that shine;
(in Parme`s eye`s).
And all the grains of sand and time.
Remember that HE sent HIS SON.
For all of us HE died.
He that made Golgotha,
created you and all of us.
Life is good to me,
HIS NAME is JESUS

Night Wind
The night wind blew
through the Judas trees
scattering their unscented flowers,
pinkish purple all around,
resembling blood
shed on the ground
of a small hillock
not far from another one
called Golgotha.
That was so long ago.
A man stood there,
ruminating on past events.
Why did he have to die?
Note: The Judas tree produces flowers first. When all flowers are gone the leaves appear. It's not a pleasant sight....

16 Oz.
The frozen male gamete is injected into the
bovine beast of burden and succour.
Months later, through the miracle of mitosis, a
juicy cut of prime passes through the birth canal, both
beautiful and bloody.
Steadfast child of some eastern divinity, I have faith that this creature was born
to meet his end on some surgical-steel golgotha,
and nourish me as bits and pieces cut and portioned on my dixie plate!
-note-
I am not a vegetarian....

Jesus Paid the Price
Born to suffer and to die,
on Calvary for you and I.
Jesus left the glory of Heaven-
knowing his destiny,
was the lonely hill of Golgotha,
there to die in agony.
Even in death he remembered,
the thief hanging on a tree,
when he spoke with love and authority
and promised him eternity.
Not for good works accomplished,
for the thief had few to embrace,
his salvation was unmerited-
freely bestowed through God’s grace-
because Jesus paid the price....

Narrative
A Litany poem
Oh Lord, sin has found me on my knees
My hands hold my face to hide me
tears drop slowly from my eyes,
filled with my hearts burden of lies.
He knows where to find me,
and sees the problem here,
He begins his teaching to make it clear.
My fault shone brightly, spiritual eyes open to see
His pain and suffering in Golgotha, nailed to a tree
He took upon the sins of the world,
He did not forget about me,
My burden was taken...........and I was set free....

The King
There He hangs, long ago babe of Bethlehem.
The inscription says, He is a King.
Many Suns have passed across the sky-
Many moons the night,
Ere He reached this awful place,
Golgotha- darkest of sights.
But hearken, all is not lost.
The Sun shall shine again.
On the third morning, Christ will rise from the dead.
Even as He, Himself has said,
"Destroy this temple and the third day I will raise it."
The disciples did not know or understand.
This was the Father’s Infinite Plan....
