A curly-haired golden retriever,
Was known as a bit of a diva,
One day, out of habit,
She caught a fat rabbit,
But none of her friends would believe her!

brown-headed nuthatch
sounding off in desert tree…
Bernie’s swishing tail
as he runs then peters out…
free bird in leafless mirth squeeks

I want a golden retriever puppy
I have always wanted a golden retriever puppy
I need a golden retriever puppy
I plan to bring one home tomorrow
I need the delight she will bring

Our golden retriever, is a golden conniver
Knows how to act all cuddly we've discovered
To get what she wants
Does her little dance
So appealing, really difficult to admonish her

Sometimes I walk around the house in the nude
Our Golden Retriever Annie says she finds it quite rude
So I says to her
Except for your fur
You don't wear clothes, you ain't no prude?

The greatest doggie in the world is our “Annie”
An almost human golden retriever, it's really uncanny
Her vocabulary is wide
By our wishes, she abides
At times she's naughty but we put up with her hanky panky

Met a beautiful Golden Retriever
on its walk around
crown hill park.
Such a sweet precious dog,
her master said she
loves everyone,
so right he was,
such wet kisses
she gave away.

The average dog is a nicer person than the average person
No question about it especially our Golden Retriever version
We've got one of those
So I make her wear clothes
Of course Annie our Golden isn't wild about this diverion

Almost two weeks since I closed your weary eyes,
some say dogs don’t go to Heaven, but I’m a believer-
Deep in my heart I’d have to say that phrase never applies,
when you’ve lost the mighty heart of a Golden Retriever.

a golden retriever puppy would be perfect for a Christmas photo.
Let’s get one out of the pound and take some selfies.
The husband liked the idea in a way.
Can we keep him? He asked.
No.
Why not?
She said “because I said so.”
Thus, her husband kept the puppy
and got rid of the wife.

my grandson Scott was almost too casual
sitting in the lake
his trusty golden retriever sat right next to him
caught any fish? I asked
I am not trying, he replied
Just relaxing
I got a lawn chair and joined him
not too proud to get my clothes wet
He was right; it was totally relaxing

Such a shame Genny our doggie pet
Our family golden retriever's life span is so short
They become loving members of the family
In fact she never asks for anything more
Than two meals a day which we strictly follow
And a bathroom break when needed
She is an absolute sweetie!
True sweet love!

A day before our getaway to Miami
We got out the blue suitcase
And as it sat in our bedroom
Getting ready for spring break
Our golden retriever
Ever vigilante
Would not leave its side
Day or night
To go outside eat or drink
No
He could not risk being left behind
Thought it was summer
Going to the lake.

Snow Angel
headlong into clouds
babe dug tunnels in the snow
smiling from heaven
……a day like today….. sun reflecting off the icy snow, about 5-below-zero….my animal best
friend (Golden Retriever) “Babe Ruth” thought he was in heaven on earth!....now he’s in
heaven smiling…

4. Captain of our home
5. Shhh...gentle he's a baby...

Constantly drooling and begging for more
Existing to sleep and poop on my floor
Patrolling the yard protecting the king
A nap in the shade while birds start to sing
But short is the song like a broken receiver
Ready to pounce the Golden Retriever
Unconditional love best friends from the start
My dogs my children I give you my heart.

I paid money for my golden retriever
but I still feel obligated to send photos to the owners
This is day eight and I forgot to send one yesterday.
I do not want them to think they sold their puppy
to an ingrate do I?
I start out the text with an apology.
My eyes have been swollen, and I have had hives.
Not a lie.
Still, I feel guilty.
What is wrong with me?

Big dog settles at my feet
his teeth are showing
tongue is hanging out
he is panting
delivery men are terrified of him
I know what a sweet natured being he is
he allows roughhousing I would never allow
by his new golden retriever baby brother
they are play bite-fighting now
I take myself out of the middle of it
At seventy-two if I go down, I might break a hip

Across the street the bumble bee played
in the green cauldron of razor-sharp weeds,
jade pools of thrones, spikes in needles,
but I saw a bumble bee playing in lush grass.
The golden retriever fetched a stick
in the carpet of moss near the jade pools
and more razor-sharp weeds,
while I, blinded by the dazzle
wanted my yard just as perfect
as what I saw through my window.

When it rains in your head
both joy and sorrow are your shadow.
You feel those liquid stiletto's, feel
the downpour all day
as you walk smiling in the sunshine.
The rain does not stop
yet the black dog
you call your darkness
turns into a Golden Retriever,
a happy pup playing in-between
Spring raindrops.
Your head clears
and you don't have to smile
or paint your mask anymore.

My goddaughter searched
A sight on line found
Puppies from a farm
A short drive away
The puppies lined up
To see what to choose
Two females one male
A hard choice to make
She chose the male dog
My goddaughter has
One female and male cat
When they met the dog
The female greeted
The male ran upstairs
He was so angry
He hid in the room
His feelings hurt
The puppy was there
A puppy to to stay

nothing like a lap full of wet dog
I am not talking about chlorine pool wet dog
Rather referring to a muddy golden retriever
Who smells like a swamp monster
Takes a flying jump and lands on my lap
Squirming around until he has taken over my recliner
Which now smells totally like muddy wet dog
Beau is our newest puppy, and I love him
I will put up with this until he gets tired of swimming
Which may be never

Get the ball
Get the ball
Get the ball
Family legend has it,
that was my famous toddler call
Before I could walk,
and even barely crawl,
I was a baby bouncer
who loved to toss the ball
Big brother Michael
was my golden retriever
Get the ball
Get the ball
Get the ball
Look, I made my brother smile, y'all
Because the game is over,
once the ball starts rolling
down the steps at the end of the hall

But I do not want a fish, a turtle or a guppy.
All I want for Christmas is a Golden Retriever puppy!
You are not getting that, his mother said with feeling.
Absolutely not said his Daddy, his head hitting the ceiling.
Grandpa sat quietly, listening, thinking what he could do.
He wanted his seven-year-old grandson happy, not blue.
On Christmas day, he gave himself the gift of a golden pup.
His delighted grandson came over much more often to sup.
