Radical Man
FDR said, "A radical is a man with both
feet planted firmly in the air."
How inspirational.
How impossible!
A radical is original,
Revolutionary!
Just as long as it's not a
Superficial
Conservative!...

Premium Member The Good Old Days
During the not-so-Great Depression
   FDR practiced self-suppression
'chatting with us' just once a week

During the current pandemic
   Press conferences are epidemic
Pols grabbing every microphone to speak...

Conservative Man
Woodrow Wilson said,"A
conservative is a man who just sits
and thinks, mostly sits."
Well, if he mostly sits,
I call that laziness.
If his feet were planted firmly in the
air, like FDR says,
At least he's not a radical....

Some More Horh Haiku Poems
Have Hoped Each Hour

have hoped each hour
God brings another shower
with all His power

many will have cared
fear times fear equals fear squared
so this message shared

FDR

came out of hiding
his time he has been bidding
always confiding

Joe Biden

had been first to die
good soldiers in short supply
as all time passed by

These are the firsts
that seem so sad

Through Glass
City lights
City lights
From my window I
    can see them
Hear the cars rushing by on the FDR drive
The city is shrouded in darkness
Millions of stories in
   this metropolis
Some pleasant, some horrific
My mind drifts off to
    other shores
where flowers blossom
    and fish swim
in a crystal - clear pool
Water - like a mirror
     catches my reflection
If you open your soul to the
   infinite
You will be rewarded...

The Room Where It Happened
I peeked in the room where FDR
And Churchill made a deal –
The chairs and table where they sat
Made history so real.

I stood in the room where JFK
And Eleanor did meet.
Discussions there allowed him
To successfully compete.

Lin-Manual Miranda,
In his most successful play,
Described what I experienced
In Hyde Park yesterday.

It’s special being in the room
Where history occurred
But as to what went down there,
We have only someone’s word....

Early Morning Walk
The playground hadn’t opened;
The sun had yet to rise
And many might think walking
In the dark would not be wise.

A mist hung by the river,
A tugboat pulled a barge;
The cars inched down the F.D.R.,
Their headlights looming large.

The puddles, partly hidden,
Glinted dully in the gloom,
Soon to saturate some sneakers
Not expecting them to loom.

It was magic to be walking;
The few others I did see
Were the regulars who love
Their early exercise, like me....

Premium Member Paper Walls
Take shelter this might be a big one
Paper walls won't hold it back
I don't think this will be it
But 'aint too sure about that

Been thinkin' about President Lincoln
Nowadays he seems Heaven-sent
Wasn't always like that
He mostly made it up as he went

There sure 'aint no Abe Lincoln
Or even FDR near about
Just a paper tiger
With a Twitter account

We can be bystanders
As the darkness falls
And keep our distance
Behind paper walls

March 21, 2020...
