Premium Member not such an imaginary friend

inside the mirror
her macabre apparition
seen by a toddler

toddler is waving
invisible friend they think
non-seeing elders

Time and Temperature

age tattered elders
worn sweaters sipping tea
a warm comfort

Respect your elders
Mother always told me
But where are they?
Walking up and down the street
I see no one older than me.

Night

• Come out while the night is young • The sun has yet to rise • "Stay away from the human village," • The elders would advise

Helping The Weak

Some people are so quick
To reach the heights
That they prefer to hold
The feet of the elders
Rather than holding hands
Of the small ones.

QUICK SOLUTIONS

as many bavila elders
surround the fire while discussing some issues,
                                 many young leaders
see quick solutions.

Who Won the Race

Elder's wrinkles--antique lace,
Taking selfies is a disgrace,
We're the sperm who won the race,
Staying positive is a grace,
Now put a smile on your face!

Premium Member THANKFUL FOR THE WISDOM OF OUR ELDERS

Today I’m thankful for the wisdom of our elders…
We should thank them ever day…
while remembering:
their wisdom does us no good
unless we heed the words they say.

Premium Member The Elders

Stories - faces aglow,
the "old ones" sharing
life's lessons.
Tales of the past,
guideposts in life,
before we all knew more
than those who came before
"our perfection".

The King Has Bled

Today is a very astonishing day
for the elders and peasants.
Their king, who is also their god,
bleeds.
“Gods do not bleed!” a child
cries out in the midst of a shocked crowd.

Premium Member Treacherous, Their Ways

Treacherous their ways
    without sunlight's rays
  Paths of sleet and ice
break our limbs in a trice

Youths may look, leap and laugh
Elders dare not make this gaffe
Form: Couplet

Passing Thru

passing thru
on my way to glory land
soon I'll be home

I'll sit down
On the banks of the river
to take my rest

won't be long
I'll shake hands with the elders
I will see God
Form: Haiku

Premium Member Wholesome and Pure

Young children should be seen and not heard
They frighten their elders with their words
    Adults insecure
    Kids wholesome and pure
Distinctions between young and old blurred

Premium Member Respect For Our Elders

Respect for elders was the way it was Seems no longer that way, it's very repugnant The world has moved on Rules have been redrawn Today is how it'll be from today forward

Premium Member older is not always wiser

older is not always wiser
a saying proven wrong many times
I have met many wise children
they recognize the power of love
whereas dementia is often overlooked in elders who were never wise

Premium Member Tell It Like It Is

I’ve been tryin’ for a while to get things right.
Dreams of better days only come at night.
I couldn’t have imagined; life like this’.
Our elders didn’t tell it, like it is—

Respect Your Elders

Here today; gone tomorrow
In a blink of an eye there could be great sorrow
Jesting no more, just past memories
Kindnesses give always, even if you disagree

Embrace them as if there’s no tomorrow

Still

===============  Still

                  a young girl knows not
                  of the wisdom of elders
            come sit by the hearth

Premium Member Burning Old Love Letters

Above all comes sorrow,
burning old love letters
in ashes of time's arrow.
Above all comes sorrow,
how I was strait and narrow
and listened to my elders.
Above all comes sorrow,
burning old love letters.

Stand Up For Ukraine

the real monsters,
are not living in your mind,
but out there,
in the real world,
killing the civilians,
innocent children's and elders,
terrible minds,
with terrible weapons,
threatening world peace.

8 a M

8 am –
still in pajamas, drinking coffee –
first cup – hair a mess –
bones stiff, but nothing
like they will be.
I used to wonder why
my elders seemed so sure
everything was getting worse.

2004 Fall

And the Exhibits

waspish
& coarse!
an ear-loathe
of a stinging credence:

o, loutish
... exhibits
at my forest’s edge –

& elders collapse
at devouring
songs –

a ministry of
moth-suckling
babe-bees of
my ether being!

Open Wounds

Are we not purported to
be the supposed elders

So why are we

Busy experimenting with
our children's future lives
used as collateral

In order to try and solve our
wounds

A problem we in fact have
created
