Funk Shun
A girl who had just met the Trumps
Was feeling quite down in the dumps
A POTUS grope
Ended all hope
She'd ever get over the humps...

I had heard of down in the dumps
But down in the dogs?
Her jowls matched her rumps
Her face was a log

Leave her be someone said

Hilarious inside her head...

Poetry Soup Heros
Jack Ellison's my poetry soup hero
He makes me laugh wherever I go
When I'm down in the dumps
And my chuckle needs pumps
I run to Jack, "Start the Show"

Jack I don't love you anymore but I don't love you any less!

Premium Member Cannot Uplift Mrs Negativity
I am downhearted, discouraged, dejected, downcast.
Ms. Positive said “You need to look up, for positives and fast.”
I am disheartened, dismayed, down in the dumps she replied.
Determined to be miserable, hopeless, sad, an expert who cried....

Feeling Down
Down in the dumps
I hate to be
That's not where
Jesus wants me
But I know He understands
Why I am not always happy

I know it's time
When I feel uptight
To have a little talk with Him
Then things will be alright

Blame It On Me
I know I haven't been honest with you
I know I haven't treated you right
Just blame it on me
Love has never existed
There is no such thing as love anymore
Just blame it on me
when you feel like you're down in the dumps
And lonely, like noone is around
Just blame it on me...

I'm feeling fragile today
when asked why
I don't know what to say
I just feel off
and a bit weepy
and down in the dumps
and everything seems creepy
friends are being akward
because they don't understand
I just want to jump into bed
not caring how I land
and stay there until
this feeling goes away
or I get my fill
of hiding from today...

Depression
Down in the dumps
Except when fixated on
Pen and paper to produce a
Rhyming (or not) mental diversion
Essential to the
Soul's seasoning that
Simply lifts
Into the ether the dark mood
Out into the light of
Nature's muse of hope.

                           poetry can heal depression...

Supers
Thank you my fellow supers (soupers)
for inviting me to write more
for appreciating and loving what i do best
when I was previously on the floor
I do not know the lot of you
but I feel like I know you well
for we, we share the same language
that makes a weak heart swell
swell with courage to write it out
when all the world seems not to care
when I was down in the dumps one day
the supers caught me in midair...

A Chance Not Taken
A chance not taken
I waited too long
All hopes are forsaken
Now you are gone

You said I didn't
Show you enough
How much I liked you
Now you called my bluff

Spinning in circles
Questioning fate
One word too much
Now it's too late

On top of the world
I thought you were mine
Now down in the dumps
No, I'm not fine

A chance not taken
It's all my fault
Can we awaken
A love from the vault?...

Happen
Does life happen to you? Or do you happen to life?
Do you dwell on the bad? or marinate in the strife?
You can focus on the negative, but that's so primitive
So what I want to give is something so limitless
There are harsh realities, but some we just make up
Mixed up in a cup, shake up and drink up
Give this a think up when your down in the dumps
It's how we survive through all of life's little hiccups...

Premium Member My Aunt Is a Broken Sorry Doll
My aunt is like a broken, depressed, sorry doll
She looks under rocks to find mean men so small
Sad tears are what we see all of the day and night
She focuses on negatives, not ideas warm or light.

She once had a bright upbeat attitude and great smile.
But she has been down in the dumps for quite a while.
This latest man is a professional at putting her down.
She looks like a broken doll, a sad sorry puppet, his worried clown....

Real Life Repeats
Down in the dumps
Ducks drop in dams
Design the due in daily dots
Documentary life dreamt as a slept dog.

Do or die
Doesn't go down
Deplete or defunct
Dim fights betrayal in doo-wop
Dancing daily in dams
Daily bread, daily living.

Right as rain
Remembering the rainfall drops
Real green relaxes under the rules
The rule of evidenced remedies
The ribs remember the rigs
Ro-setta stone coins
Real life repeats.

Premium Member Questions
What do you do when the world doesn’t make sense?
What do you do when you have no common sense?

How can you laugh when humor is foreign to you?
How can you be optimistic when your life has
be down in the dumps constantly?

How can you embrace love when all you’ve encountered
was hate?

Answer ( mines alone)

Seek to learn new things. And always believe things will
get better no matter how dark the day.

The Smile Fairy Is On Her Way
Many poets I have noticed are sad and down in the dumps. I hate seeing my friends like this I know some things are going on But there is nothing we can do to change it now. I was told the smile fairy was on her way. Spreading smiles all over the place Did anyone get their smile today? Or the note that said. Put this smile upon your face, It will bring you love and happiness. Brightening your day and washing the pain away.

Thoughts Like Clockwork
The clockwork gears inside my mind keep turning,
And my stomach seems to be churning,
With all these thoughts of you,
I honestly don’t know what to do.
I’m down in the dumps,
And I feel so stuck,
Here in the middle again.
I guess I wish I were dead.
I know that’s not the answer,
But I don’t think I can handle myself,
Here on my own in this sea of crowded lives.
My eyes wanna cry,
But I just wanna sleep,
And dream of nothing but you....

Premium Member Sifting Sad Shadows From the Past
Flour, baking powder, sugar, salt
must be integrated smoothly, to a fault
if what is baked will turn out good
keeping it all in proportion, as one should

"Sifting sad shadows from the past"
to aerate lighter memories that will last
helps break down the bigger lumps
of those times feeling down in the dumps

Having a memory a bit more like a sieve
may not be such a bad way to live
introspection shakes up, softens time
laughing later-- adds a hint of lime...

My Doll
MY DOLL - A POEM

Waiting behind the closed doors
My dearest smiles at me
My tired soul lights up again
I hold my doll with glee

‘Dolls’ for kids’, teases this world
My Doll cries or laughs with me
With it, can I ever get old

Mind filled with guilt as
I keep My Doll homebound
My Doll never complains or cribs
For me, my Doll is always around

Friends or kin come and go
Down in the dumps, I find solace
in my Doll, makes me forget my woes...

That Is Who I Am
Anywhere I appear I make myself known;
I can’t be obscure, and that is obvious:
I have an incredible innate as all humanity;
I have weakness too,
That at times set me to be down in the dumps.
If that hidden weakness is really a shame,
Then right at shame, we all fall short to perfection.
That is what it is,
Digging out meaning out of everything,
That takes my attention:
I’m so good at commanding alphabets,
But not better at numbers.
Eh! That is a place I own, that is who I am....

No Place Like Home
There's no place like home
So the old saying goes
When you're down in the dumps
It will cure your woes

Blob out on the couch
Watch rubbish TV
Wear scruffy old jeans
And a worn-out hoodie

Head for the kitchen
Eat whatever you want
(Like that packet of biscuits
That’s been there for yonks)

The place is a mess – who cares!
Have a wee snooze
Let everything slide
You’ve nothing to lose

Recharge your batteries
Find some new zest
Works’ overrated
Home is the best...

Me and My Halfwit
We never thought we would understand
the touches of sarcasm made by each other,
the choices made for each other,
and the horrible love for each other.
We never knew we would stay
in down in the dumps of each other,
while tying the shoes,
while missing the homes.
Words were many, memories are sweet and
You are the grin from cheek to the cheek of mine.
Don’t know, when it will become the same nostalgic…
Don’t know , when you’ll become the same halfwit…
Until then I miss you....

Premium Member Lets Make the Troll Our New Mascot
Let’s make him the new mascot someone suggested.
He looks dour, down in the dumps, forlorn, some of us protested.
But he fits in with our theme, one of the Eeyore-types said.
He always loves to make trouble; his name is Depressed Ned.

I refuse to vote for the troll, I say, in a mean kind of way.
Several others agree with me, others have absolutely no say.
The dour depressed troll ends up being mascot for the new team.
I decided to drop out of the booster club, even though it was mean....
