An Elderly Gentleman Discovers Nirvana
Of course he had heard of Kurt Cobain,
had curled his lips dismissively,
equating rock music to Jurassic noise.
Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms
were all the B’s he needed for his hive.
The great American song book was his bible.
Yet and even,
when he listened to that ‘Never Mind’ album

Top Old To Visit
My grandparents are too old to visit, the girl tells me.
I ask how old, and discover they are ten years younger than I am.
She laughs when I reveal this.
They are old people old, she insists.
Why don’t you get to know them? I suggest.
They are too old, she says, dismissively.
Not understanding the irrationality of it.
I am 68. They are 58 and 57. What am I missing?
They ACT old she says.
Oh.
