The Bark of the Birch
The bark of the birch - it’s curled for peeling
as the whippoorwill commands the block.
I fill my lungs with the pine-riddled air,
discounting the call of the clock.
A trickle of water escapes the hose,
a new pepper has sprouted - no, a pair!
Pleased with the snips of roses I chose,
apart from a vase, I haven’t a care....

Premium Member Do-Over
Day's end ~ fiasco, near constant assail. Discounting what's here, I crave what I lack. In my own strength, I am set up to fail. Regret for those words too late to take back... Forgetting purpose, I thrash and I flail; with each step taken, I'm further off track. Thankfully, grateful I can again say, So tender His mercies, new every day.

Sitting here alone again:
watching Mash!!
I know, but what the heck.
It’s still a smash,
just as it was then.
The highlight of my day;

the cats at play.

But then, who am I to say?
My big concern
sadly to learn
in my present state of demise.
Is how to crease
this solo piece
and have some left
to wipe my eyes....

Existentialism
By day,
By night,
We fight,
Summoning all of our might.
They try to douse our flame, but it's still burning bright.

Our crime,
in time
You’ll find,
Is popular for a certain kind of mind.

Goodbye hate,
Goodbye sorrow,
Wonder who life will take tomorrow.

A product of our wills,
Crossing the hills
cranked out by the mills
of those who are ruled by this system still,
who believe life is already filled, and distilled,
discounting freewill....

Premium Member Non-Duality--Peace and Freedom
These poems are all about Non-duality, or Non-separation. If you are stimulated, you might search the internet (particularly YouTube) for speakers on this subject. Many find much freedom and peace in an appreciation of Non-duality. It is easily dismissed because of its simplicity, which seems to discount spiritual and religious practices. But this discounting is eventually seen as a lack of appreciation for the message. Poems are all brief. Please enjoy, or skip by them! Thanks, Charles...
