Ant On Flower

Ant
Creepy, tingly
Sneaking, pinching, biting
Woods, garden, floral shop, corsage
Delighting, thrilling, exuding
Dainty welcomed

Rose Corsage and Boutonniere

Red roses wristlet
Orange roses boutonniere
As betoken of
The countryside espousal
Of two souls becoming one

Ovaries

A reproductive structure in force
Sunflowers as tall as a giant
Pansies and Violas borders the garden
The magnetism of nature with the help of green fingers
Presents a corsage of wonderful blooms.

Couldn'T Think of Gardenia

A sweet young lassie from Estonia Was besought by a boy from Bologna Taking her to a dance, He wore his best pants And gave her a corsage of begonia.

Back In Please

In a parking space in an underground parking garage A wall sign read, “BACK IN PLEASE”, thought it was a mirage If I entered that small space Depending on which way I faced I'd never again be free to roam the fields wearing a corsage

Beauty of a Rose

And for the beauty of a rose,
The wonders near, or far--.
We yearly dance in certain step
About a shinning star.
For science, quite objectively,
It showed the world the way--
A universal pirouette;
A world no more astray.
And so the sun accords to earth
A lyrical homage--
The world in formal gown and tie,
And orchid-lace corsage.

Suzie

I was thrilled as a peacock
When Suzie blushed and agreed
To come with me to the dance
I bought her the most beautiful corsage
My allowance money could buy
With money leftover for a soda
Tonight’s the night
I’m going to ask Suzie to be my girl

A Kiss For Her Beautiful, Emily Dickinson

Fifty-six years her beauty's heart did glow; a nineteenth century
Love song amid eastern skies northern lights; she danced as dwelled
In dreams these possibilities ? Clandestine, verses sublime gables rhyme
Of sweet perfume, and timeless time; singsongs, choirs, your carriage awaits...
Segue Juliet, this music she plays; parallel, heirlooms her love his, corsage; we kiss.

Next time Around

Next time around I will be six foot eight
I will play basketball, and I will be great
Next time around I will be born in a city
I will have confidence, not care if I’m pretty

Next time around I will not care what people think
My own opinions will keep my joy in the pink
Next time around I will be a star with an entourage.
People will lavish me with bouquets and a corsage.

EPHEMERA

A flattened rose mumbles
An old cracked button chuckles
Tickled by a 2nd place ribbon
In the corner a tattered doll weeps
Comically consoled by a one-eyed bear
Ballet slippers long for a pointed toe
A dried corsage sits inside a dusty tiara
A leather-bound diploma shouts success
A tear stained letter sorrow

For joy and sadness are but fleeting moments
Imbedded in the soul of ephemera

Asleep not

Asleep not, my muse begins to trot,
Evoking whispers of willow
In my memorial mirage.
Asleep not, my concern is hot.
It has nothing to pillow
But your cold corsage.

Solely awake solely in wait
Whether affectional arrears
Find the atonement too late
To recoup your stray tears.

Half desirous half in despair
How my wistful heart dithers
When into thin air
Years of attendance withers.

Bloom

a starving for light begins the slow turn of a maiden color gestures to beg the careless caress sunlit redemption a blooming odyssey weeps staggers weak a boulder to knee fleeting moments prayed in the sun mystery adrift in a petals whisper whimsical cycles of trespass sweep about a ravaged corsage obey the wind come undone surrendered soft for hands to gather again Terry D’Arcy-Ryan

Old Show

Have a hole in my sock
Sneaker is torn
A bump like Hernia
Next to my groin.

Corsage must pick
My son’s prom tonight
Stop by MacDonald’s
Grab me a bite.

Must watch out for myself
Front tooth is loose
If I chew too hard
It’ll be of no use.

Good thing still have hair
Although grows quite thin
If it starts to fall
Damn curly sin.

Done the days chores
Rest and sit down
Getting old for this circus
Should be a retired clown.

Now, Shall We Dance

a dizain

Marie appears on edge, far from sedate,
in stylish gown of white, with graceful curves.
Young Matthew, her acclaimed, has changed of late,
refined is he, in black suit, full of nerves.
It's prom night as this spectator observes.
I notice charming prince, corsage in hand
and marvel - he's become a handsome man,
belab'ring bashful thoughts of how to dance.
Envis'ning endless dreams now left to plan.
First dance? 'tis everything, Such sweet romance.

They Left Crimson Out of the Rainbow

Leprechauns do a jig
Moguls eat a fig
Rubes eat a pig
Crimson is real big

Accountants get a raise
Bankers get to appraise
CEO's get to the next phase
Crimson is the post chaise

Crime lords get the bling
Business men get a one night fling
Choir of Angels sing
Crimson is the thing

Dogs get a bone
Assistants get to phone
Wives stay at home
Crimson sets the tone

Pop stars get the entourage
Winners wear a corsage
Housewives put on a visage
Crimson is a mirage

Six-Word Couplet Series Encore

Yearn to learn

On hot summer day...
Follow the mirage,
Or the corsage.

Try that once...
Dance to tunes,
Along sand dunes.

When you reach the peak...
Climb the hill,
And just chill.

History comes alive...
Must visit Castle,
Without any hassle.

Decide on joyrides...
Enjoy camel ride,
Watch great stride.

Yearn to learn...
If mind deserts,
Then it hurts.

I Will Keep You Forever

You were discovered inside a white Bible on a summers day
brown as a dead hen with a chicken neck
crumbling too, brittle, all your water gone
oh Grandma what is it? I had to think for a second.
you are a reminder of a time when I was not anyone's grandma
I saw you sneering at me and I smiled with affection.
you were the first flower I had not gotten from Daddy and Mommy.
I will keep you safely inside this Bible forever my love.
Remembering how nervous was the boy who handed you to me.
