Kept in the fridges of
kitchens of my land, the
King of Condiments is
Known to enhance french fries!
Kids at heart love it, so
Kick off your morning with
Ketchup on scrambled eggs!

I have Smelly Armpits and
Bursting to Go
but; I'm heading to the supermarket
the condiments aisle
I meet my neighbour
like conversing with a
pigeon
give me the full recipe
he says
he has arm wrestling
intelligence -
but how to get out of it
unsex me now
come, thick night
he talks about his hedges
I shoplift
the sugar puffs...

Recipe
Combine chicken and yogurt; garlic,
ginger, turmeric, cayenne. Saute mint
and mustard-seed till aromatic and seeds
begin to pop. This from memory,
the cookbook’s lost. You have to intuit
quantities, and what to slice, mince,
chop, or dice. Serve on basmati rice
with cilantro and condiments of choice.
Inhale, close your eyes, taste India....

Premium Member Sentimentality
a hardening mangosteen
with wounded white seeds
increasing into rotten arrogance
of monstrous' velocity

sentimentality-
rises slowly to the skin
emitting cerebral poison
flavored with the sourest
and most bitter condiments

as troubled being
devours senseless hurt
sentimentality’s lava
flows drifting soul into sin

Sugar Beat
Flirting w/a monster
Speaking words sinister
Amber eyes gleaming
Until a wail screaming

Finger painting in condiments
Splicing forgotten remnants
Crawling on the other-side
Bumming for a ride

Spewing pastels all over
Waiting to recover
Plucking vapors
Watching fire tapper

Jumping in the driver seat
Trying to retreat
To that sweet beat
To that sugar beat....

Condiment Infidelity
Yellow Mustard joined Olive Oil
At the motel, Blue Cheese Lagoon
Afraid he was much too anxious
Because she said he came to soon!

But he then knew what was ado
His cousin Dijon was more quick
Yellow Mustard was disappointed
Unaware Olive Oil was so slick

But the other condiments knew
They didn't need a measuring cup
They said it was in front of you
Come on Yellow Mustard Catch up!...

Today Today Tomorrow
David J Walker

She said she would choke
Every yesterday
                     that came to mind

Smother them in condiments
Spewing out false memories
Of an alternate life
		          lost

The day to day
	           Changes
With every tomorrow realized

The reality of today
		          Weaponized

You can’t know what today
Was like

	She said

Until you hate it tomorrow...

Only the Best
In her cupboards
are dried herbs,
spices and condiments.
She keeps the kitchen clean,
the pantry clean
but no food except for cat food,
cans and cans of cat food,
wet cat meats in stacked tins.
Only the best, good quality cuisine
fit for her and her cats.
The cats will not consume
the food if spiced or seasoned.
Over the years
her tastes have changed
now she takes no spices,
but her whiskers tingle
at the thought of catnip....

I want him to look at me like I am a juicy blood rare steak
That he could eat with or without condiments

I want him to look at me like I am a sunset at the edge of a beach
I want him to feel I am gold at the end of the rainbow

I want him to see the real me, and appreciate my gentle heart.
I want him to feel proud when he shows me off.

I want him to introduce me to family as if I am a priceless gem
He discovered all on his own....

Lost Poem
A mother that hears the cry of her baby
does not turn deaf ears to show indifference.

A woman prepared for a culinary task,
by all means, gathers the condiments required.

A barricadoed road, however restrictive,
suffices not to keep an incubating hen off her eggs.

A nocturnal darkness does not stand to disorientate
a hand to miss its way to the mouth.

Scavenging any available heaps in sight
reflects the missing of a valuable....

All Figured Out
Sun angles in on the room just so
There's a strip of light on the floor for my dog
Sirens outside if you pay attention
AC doing its best
Nothing in the fridge
But condiments and expired takeout
No money to shop for food
Finish my book
Stare at the wall
Is this what it's all about
I must be missing something
I was born without hunger
Watch other people
They seem so fake
Like a bad sitcom
Is anyone happy
Is anyone sane
The dog licks his ass and falls asleep
He's got it all figured out...
