Good Night Baba Suwe
Baba Suwe, in juncture of despair,
Thy joke stuns away distress.
Concocting in hearts lusty intense.
Now, we sleep when thou walketh to the dark deep realm....

How the World Lies
Concocting words, like a potion,
Like a witches brew, but at times like soda-pop;
Bubbly, sweet, but inorganic, artificial
Like the lies we laze in.

That's life now, huh?
How about that....

Premium Member Poet Ogden Nash
Here's a salute to Poet Ogden Nash,

Who was notable for being quite brash!

      He was much more wittier

         Than John Greenleaf Whittier,

            Concocting reams of clever balderdash!...

There once was a prolific chef named Stu,

Who whipped up vittles for a Navy crew.

      He was aptly named,

         And was also famed,

For concocting a most sumptuous stew.

Simone the Panda Candy Maker loved concocting new recipes.
Today he created a caramel crunch that would take you to your knees.
Yesterday he invented a potato swirl that brought a new meaning to sweet.
He is perpetually inventing new candies, which makes visiting him a treat....

Hiding Behind a Smokescreen
Some people hide behind smokescreens
so that they can deceive others,
with elaborate schemes,
hoping to fulfill their dreams on the
sweat of the innocent,
refusing to repent,
refusing to be remorseful,
concocting lies while precious time flies,
until nothing has been accomplished....

Premium Member Army Chef - Sergeant Schmo
Sergeant Schmo was chef in an Army mess.

   He excelled in concocting S.O.S.,

      But troops preferred M.R.E.s,

They were very hard to please!

Don't know what S.O.S. is? Take a guess!

(P.S.: Ask a veteran nearest you what S.O.S. is - the answer will astound you!)...

Premium Member concocting a youth potion
I shall do a dish and a dash and a ha ha ha
making myself young, so fiddly fah lah lah
so saying, the old witch gave a loud gaffaw
her cauldron boiled and bubbled next to her bra

I pretend to cook kale and sauerkraut too
but in truth, I am concocting a witch’s stew
to make me as young as twenty-one or two
Wish me luck! Cackled the old hag, Libby Lou....

Premium Member A Ford You Could Afford
Henry Ford satisfied the masses, we may all agree,

By concocting the venerable Ford Model "T".

He said, "You can choose any color as long as it's black!"

And he even tossed in a spare tire, crank and sturdy jack!

Premium Member Delicate Strands of Sound
Flanked by violets and similes
in a drafty den she pens
away fleet hours, pensive, concocting
   exotic brews of rarest essence

and scents, honey-tipped phrases
   in secret rhythmical chants
known only to denizens of her
   innermost sanctum, where she,

perches, chin in hand, arranging
   delicate strands of sound, eliciting
murmurs from those gathered, who lionize her
though she remains as the dust underfoot...

July Rain 2
The hot, dry season is done!
Invite nostalgia’s approach -
enjoy her dance of delight.

Science calls her "pet-ri-chor".
quite lackluster, I would say
for fragrance ever so light.

Dust and droplets of water
unite - concocting brief whiffs
of essence known to excite.

July rain brings memory’s
sprite to life emanating
thoughts only smells can incite.

Smell deeply before she takes
flight. All too soon she will go
leaving without sound or sight.

Premium Member What He Gets For Empty Nets
The old fisherman sat in his dory

Empty nets, but concocting a story

It would sure mean his life

Should he greet his young wife

At the dock without financial quarry.

Now his wife was as fit as could be

With the girth and the might of a tree

He considered her ire

Then began to perspire

And headed his boat ... out to sea.
