Trees and Deers
Chop chop chopping down the trees in the forest
there goes a deer by the door
because they are

OFFICE BOY
the class
   of summer fifty five
left to ply
   their business lives

the office partners just two
pens pencils nearly-new

clerking the lowest
                of the low
daily drudgery
  reality soon shone thru'
down the cellar
    my steps did wend
scuttle filled fires to tend
the 'old man ' yelling
      'ere lad chop chop
get me baccy
   from t'corner shop...

Night In the Forest
Snakes hurling, as smoke is curling.
Chop, chop, no need to shop. Gizzard,
Snake and clam bake. I tried to pray,
But I cried today. I am safe, a waif.

My tent is weathered as my face.
No grace for the poor and hungry.

By the sea, I see ships afar. I cannot
Travel far, as I have one leg - a peg.
No cause for alarm, I have two arms.

I have fire, desire. I carve. I won't
Starve, at least not today. It's ok....

Hovering
A helicopter hovered
In the east side New York sky.
It looked just like the hummingbirds
I spot in mid-July.

Its headlight darted left and right,
Like it was on a quest.
I wondered if the search was real,
Or was it just a test?

No boats were in the river
Over which the copter hovered;
That made me think that there was nothing
There to be discovered.

Some minutes passed and then it slowly
Chop-chop-chopped away.
Another New York mystery
To supplement my day....

My Wonderland
Tree canopy
Thick and green
Full of singing birds
And chattering monkeys.

Thick underbrush
Rustles at a touch
Be careful what you eat
It could be deadly.

Rushing rivers flow
Thousands of plants grow
Animals right where you can’t see
A wonderland to me.

A distant whirring sound
A tree drops to the ground
Where I once heard monkey’s chatter
Now I hear machine’s clatter

Chop Chop Chopping
More illegal logging
Don’t they understand
This is my wonderland?...
