My Wonderland

Tree canopy Thick and green Full of singing birds And chattering monkeys. Thick underbrush Rustles at a touch Be careful what you eat It could be deadly. Rushing rivers flow Thousands of plants grow Animals right where you can’t see A wonderland to me. A distant whirring sound A tree drops to the ground Where I once heard monkey’s chatter Now I hear machine’s clatter Chop Chop Chopping More illegal logging Don’t they understand This is my wonderland?
