Stilled Voice (For John Gawsworth, 1921-1970)

Poetry is easy, life is hard,
And so the bravest bard
Begins to buckle with the weight of brutal years—
His singing disappears.

Climbing aboard the spaceship

Weakest Link

Weakest Link

Belt around a size eight waist
curtains waiting to be close
undressed, with a weak link touch
hard like a buckle.

buckle up
a hundred dollars
at the poker table
gives you
less time then you think
only an ace
could kill the mood
they had the ace
Ace…you are done

Red Necktie Noose

aka Laugh-in Stock

Trump's tie hangs below his buckle
To advertise honey suckle?
But Trump's in the red
So no pronouns shed
Though it does make some folks chuckle!

What Once Was

this time I won't buckle
this time I won't quit
as I lay face down
in the midst of this
this time I hold strong
this time I hold on
what once was is past
what once was is gone

Buckle Down

To whom does he smile at
With a tip-top approbation of doggedness
Neglecting the pleasure of the period?

To whom does he cheer
With a reverberating extant sound?
Nobody but he who buckles down

Trump Like Howard Taft

Trump Like Howard Taft

Again and again, Trump gave us the shaft,
And after he did had laughed and laughed;
Another chuckle,
So loosen buckle;
Heard huge body is as big as Howard Taft.

and not just for a moment

i hopped on my never-ending rollercoaster again.

A Few Lines and More

Cover your back and don't be slack;
Don't buckle to stress and crack.
Procrastinate not and pile up the stack;
Have your goal and stay on its track.
And show some knack and ingenuity in the battle of the sexes.

Half Past Summer, Two Months Till Fall

The seasons operate like Nature’s clocks:
when winter solstice fades, we’re on the rise!
Meridian’s behind us now (approx),
so savour, while you can, those smiling skies:
then buckle up! Here comes the equinox!

Conscious

Don't be so pretentious
To not be conscious
All the things you've seen give you a luscious feel.
So go on, as you discover more.
When you found what your looking for.
Give a rest.
Buckle up and mesmerized by your thing.

Big Buckle Said Knuckle

Place where they  have a lot of nerve;
Should surely see the way they curve;
My big buckle,
Said knuckle;
They do it with much vive and verve.

Jan Allison

Jan Allison

Jan Allison gave me a grinning big chuckle
Only wish she met my quirky Uncle Buckle
She might have to fend off
Then she may have to cough
A mighty big yowl to scare a honey suckle

Once Lost

Love, though strong,
Is still quite fragile.
It can be easily broken.
Smile in the tough times,
And buckle up on the rough rides.
Never take it for granted.
Once found, it's amazing,
But once lost,
It's hard to get back.
Hold it dearly.

Premium Member Envied Star Buckle

Star buckle beauty
Holding my pants up
Wonderful design
Gorgeous and awesome
Compares like none seen
Envied by many men
Buckle is loved
By near everyone
Shiny silver buckle
A star attraction
Never will I part
From my beautiful
Star buckle wonder

The Ruins

Architectural terror
Built by masons
With no squares
No preparation
Or foundation
A carbon disaster
Of weathered
Crumbling plaster
Time chuckles
Unchallenged
Supports buckle
Falling faster

Premium Member Seeking a Laugh

Climbing a wooden ladder, seeking a laugh!
Guffaws in splinters — as I grab each side splitter.
A crescendo after the rung chuckles.
The thinning air and applause, prolapse my breath.
My knees might buckle as I collapse.

Grackles

Wings monger air.
A host of defrocked preachers
buckle and swag.
Mobs clique and crowd in clusters.
Grackles,
skip, jump, and plunder on.

The birds pilfer, promenade,
scrum, pluck,
lift off swearing
in an avian Yiddish.

Heaven is rocked
by their thimble-sized storms.

I Charge Within

I put a saddle on the wind,
and rode it through the storm

The bridle placed, the buckle cinched,
the reins, my horse reborn

Inside each stirrup passion spurs,
the present now in hand

Behind whose mane I charge within
—in search of who I am
