Yuk
wheezing, sneezing allergies
about to get the best of me
puffy eyes and they tear
I think I need some benadryl
cause the freeze din't cure my ills...

Little Pink Pill
Little pink pill, little pink pill
How I love you so
Wherever I go, if my mind wanders too far
You're there for me, waiting patiently
Little pink pill, oh, little pink pill
Take my anxiousness and fear away......

"Authority problem and rules violation
Driver’s license suspended
At work on probation
In and out of trouble
Decisions and choices”-
I must’ve spaced out, I’m hearing voices,
I’m losing my mind, I’m trapped in abyss…
Few shots, benadryl, seroquel – I’m at peace...

Backup Plan
Travel day is what’s on tap
Two-year-old is in my lap
Doesn't seem that far to go
Just six inches on the map
Flying tantrums, status quo?
Not for parents in the know
Benadryl - voila! a nap
This ain’t my first rodeo…

Asphyxiation
3:10 am
The benadryl has long since worn off
No sleep, again...
Weird stuff happens to me in the early morning
I see things
Things I shouldn't
Like your face
3:14 am
I need nicotine
3:20 am
Cigarettes don't help..
Because no matter how much smoke I blow in your face
You find just enough breath
To choke me...

Benadryl Chill
Weak at will
you understand the drill
pop that pill
Benadryl chill
time to heal
a trip for real
now I can't feel
Benadryl chill
don't overly thrill
intake what they till
don't break the seal
Benadryl chill
don't rob or steal
if you are ill
just ask Jill
Benadryl chill
now calm and still
I don't need a steel
stash on my window sill
now I Benadryl chill...

A Night Untitled
3 Benadryl
My body is damaged, depleted and drawn tight around my bones
Skin that shivers through the sweat
A heart never to be trusted.
How many of these edge-balanced days are left?
Give me 1,000. And fill heaven with the stars of night.
In the silence, I hear my skin cells living and dying. Being birthed again.
And all these miles of nerve fibers. Laid out like twigs. Drenched in kerosene.
Yes. I'm on fire....

Benadryl Is the Only One I Know
Take two and a half peach, one blue round three elongated white.
My eyes are blurry; I cannot see any longer. My right hand is asleep.
Now my left hand is asleep.
I climb back into bed
Wait. This is only part of the morning dose?
The only one I know for sure is Benadryl.
It is bright pink.
Taking pills upon pills.
I smell medicine when I take a whiff of myself.
Fitfully wondering ….would I be well if I stopped
taking all of this stuff cold turkey?
Dare I?
I believe I do....
