gather wares for market day
and cauldrons of the land
baneful stock for the boiling pot
before the evening’s end

tankards spill and taverns heave
upon these Beltane days
see magic folk and sorcerers
on an otherwise malaise

then pack the carts and disappear
before the robin sees
and woe betide the straddlers
caught there on Gallows’ Eve

Irish Cycle
I often saw a shamrock
in the green beneath her eye
although she wasn't lucky
when my whiskey made her cry.

She chased me through the springtime
and I held her love so bold
we drank the autumn colors
so the bards have all been told.

The Beltane fires would cast her
shadow up to kiss the sky
with the oak and holly's laughter
where the God's and love won't die....

Beltane Chase
Hid in the dark pretending to be blind
& you found me with words
Clothed myself in light, thinking you’d search the shadows
But you knew my thought
Took shelter in noise to shut out the silence
& was revealed when no sound would touch me
Embraced the silence & refused to speak
But the words began to haunt me
So I stood before you
& spoke my story
& you made it rain for me...

Premium Member Which Fire Is Eternal
What ever happened to May Day
Was it always borne of fire?
Ritualistic backstay
The opposite of a pyre

Ensuring fertility of the land
Safety of the livestock
Fire, dancing hand in hand
All together en bloc

Don't fear Beltane
The new fire is lit
Modern meets the arcane
To the heaven and earth we recommit

Cordelia Celtic Fairy Goddess
told me today to rest
and have more play
Beltane may be her day
yet called upon
she'll thaw your lil feelin's
like our alice in wonderland
embarrassed and bewildered
there's nothing to be done
love love love love love the best I can
not to be cold judge
thanks for the reminder
I'm 'posed to be the
grown up here
life experience to share
but only when asked, duh
kiss kiss hug hug

Offerings To the Flames
Long ago our ancestors,
waited for the time,
When it was warm in spring
To plant the grain, the fruit, the vine,
The Earth, it is awakening
Ere winter storm subside.
Fallow fields are waiting
for the seedlings to reside.
lighting up the flames now
in the season filled with fire,
passion, love and fruitfulness,
All fuel us with desire,
As the flames go higher
Throw your offerings in the embers.
As we thank mother nature
for all the goodness which she renders....
