Nature

Snow laden mountains -
  Sun sparkles like diamonds
  on icy cold loch

  Heart leaps with joy -
  playful otter is crowned by
  bejewelled water

Snowdrops

I remember snowdrops
in the fledgling spring,
in the veins of sleet
where the mill torrent raged.
How bejewelled cobwebs
to the reeds would cling,
and how all but that memory
has aged...

Whispering gossamer wings flutter on the zephyr breeze I gaze in awe as a beautiful butterfly alights on buddleia blossoms and marvel at its bejewelled wings which resemble a stained glass window Whispering Wings Poetry Contest Sponsored by Chantelle Anne Cooke 01/12/22

Your Flight Home

I went home alone
After you left,
Cloaked in my own darkness
While Clogging memories
Of your smile
Accompanied me on
The night time drive
Tinged with lonely sadness.

Later I found your hair
In the bathroom,
Beautiful strands of
Discarded gold
Which I framed
Along with your tears
That had bejewelled
My heart.

Colours

Red,
The summer sky is red,
scarlet ,
furious as my fathers face
after another one for the road

Blue,
the sea is blue,
shiny, shimmering and cold,
my mother, bejewelled, always shimmered
but to me she was cold

Black,
The night is black,
unwelcoming,
all consuming
turn that light out and stop your crying
black

Fireworks

Fireworks!

Lights sparkling
Ruby delight
Fizzing, whizzing
Glistening night

Bright diamonds
Golden rain
Blasting, rasping
Again and again

Rays flashing
Shattered drops
Dashing, splashing
Cannon ball shots

Wild explosions
Busting high
Booming, zooming
Bejewelled sky

 Folks laughing
Gusty cheers
Glimmering, shimmering
Chandeliers

Colours of Despair

Images; pitiful black images
suckling frantically from dry, empty breasts.
Black eyes; wide open, fearful, but
mercifully blind to destiny's most unforgiving hand.

Victims:tormented by the incessant heat of the sun's bejewelled rays,
mercy is fleeting; uncompromising
shades of hopelessness cocoon innocent souls;
But Fate will cast its untimely shadow
Black is the colour of despair.

Bejewelled Tree

I gazed out of my favorite window,
The beautiful tree touched by the rain.

The branches shone like jewels,
Diamonds of nature.

The daylight shinning,
Through the pristine droplets of water.

There were a few trees like this,
Simply welcoming spring.

The rain had endured,
Cloudy and foreboding.

The tree like a ray of sunlight,
Cheering the day.

Facebook Games

Candy Crush and Angry Birds
To some of us these are just words
But if you play they’ll stress you out
Run out of moves and you will shout

Bejewelled Blitz and Happy Aquarium
Jewels and fish stop you feeling glum
Pet Rescue Saga and Towers
They’ll keep you amused for hours

Rescuing animals and matching cards
In Farmville, run your own farmyard
Farkle and Top Eleven
Card skills and football heaven
With a Facebook game, winning is your aim

Emma

No cheek was there, ere so fair, nor morning breath so cool
Red ribbons in her long blonde hair, eyes shining as bejewelled

With movement gently delicate, graceful as a swan
Her mind so nimbly intricate, a smile for everyone

Her spoken word, mellow and light, her voice as soft as sleep
The stories that she told each night, she said, were mine to keep

I saw her grow from babe in arm, as life began to weigh
Blessed with every worldly charm, to woman of today

Bejewelled Winter

God's frozen nature,
Trees standing or fallen,
Touched by a wand of ice,
Spruce and pine,
Glimmering like a
storybook kingdom,
Standing tall aloof and still,
Snow and ice covering
God's kingdom,
Danger everywhere,
Viewing winter through
a multi-dimensional window,
Humans bowing out to a conspiracy
of the supernatural.
God's bejewelled kingdom,
The warmth at home,
Friendliness and comfort,
Blessings of the Lord.

The Secret Attic

Spending their time in prayer ,devotion and hymms
The golden haired Angels curly shiny braided locks
Glistened in the sun as she fluttered her wings
Glitter dust sparkled in the sunbeamed secret attic
Heavenly music flowed from her bejewelled harp
as she gently played her mesmerizing melody.
Another angel in beautiful fabrics downward flowed
Dancing and lightly playing her magical silver flute
Damask silk twinkling and glittering as she bowed.

O I Love You

O could I hear your voice like dew dropping sweetly
Inflamed all night by hot dreams, my lips would cool
Languishing no more to drink your milk so slowly
Oozing from the fountain peak of nipples clear pool
Vertically exuding, I should satiated subside in delight
Eternal grateful that you came to me in morning light
You are my hibiscus, my jasmine bejewelled and bright
O I love you, my sweet adorable native land. My wight,
Utopia of the new world, Jamaica, sweet star of our night.

Autumn Fire

Broad canopies ablaze with scarlet flames.
   Majestic trees, how pituresque, display
Leaves silvered pink aglow with burnished gold
Its foliage lights woodlands wild array.
As autumns changing colour show parades,
Those trees bejewelled leaves light up the way.
Below their boughs upon the woodland floor,
A floral scene with gentle breezes play.
Amazing sights for people passing by.
Uplifting spirits, changing skies from grey.

The Bejewelled Night

Smooth black velvety curtains
Embroidered with diamond sequins
In the dark river waters
Smiling, silvery moon
Trying to find its reflection
Playing peek a boo
Rendering a silvery sheen
To all earthly things
That glistening moon
Dewy grass with scattered pearls
Everywhere chilly wind whirls
Nature playing an orchestra
Strange music all around
Each element dancing
Whirling to each sound
Peeping through those curtains
A new morn jealously awaits
The end of a bejewelled night

Forever In Autumn

I walked languidly through autumn,
Amongst a wind
That came at me like a whetted knife,
And crisp brown leaves that
Had gathered like old sailors
Jostling for one final parade;
All dressed in their best
Green and brown and autumn coppers.

I followed the birds south,
Past bejewelled webs
And leafy drifts

Thinking of you,
Somewhere;
Your face framed
By hair the colour of deepest night -
- But your heart,
Forever in autumn
Dancing and laughing
In our cinnamon memories
And oranges for eyes.
