Clarion Sea
Clarion calm sea
right before thunder;
A man wave boarding,
teens sit catching rays;
An emerald gleams;
No sweat beading
on my iced drink;
Time moves gently,
I am spellbound;
Waves fly up
choppy, bright;
A storm rise;
The tide’s
moods swing
big....

Lady Bug Water Drop Boogie
Lady bug water drop boogie
Wha wha wha wha wha woogie
Sliding down the slick verdant fern
The little one yells “let me take a turn!”
Lady bug water drop boogie
Wha wha wha wha wha woogie
Bubbles beading up into pretty dew
I love this fairy dance – how about you?...

Calm Your Frayed Nerves
Calm your frayed nerves, dry beading brow
You’ve reached the end, now time can cease
How we got here, don’t ask me how
Calm your frayed nerves, dry beading brow
Accomplished as much as days would allow
Your loose ends are tied, be at peace
Calm your frayed nerves, dry beading brow
You’ve reached the end, now time can cease...

Culture Shock
I saw it in a film: his city is beautiful.
Snow is everywhere, the trees are crowned
with it, and ice skims the harbor,
frosts ships, going nowhere. Even when
he held me, there was ice in his heart,
Ice in the pale blue of the washed-out
sky beyond his closed eyelids, ice
beading his vodka skin, and
"You are hot," he said, "Hot,
hot, hot..."...

The Scorcher
Screaming drops
That of hot sweat
Beading on your neck
Blasting your body
With a cooling system
Was it enough
Or did you suffer
From near heat stroke
Did you hurt
From the flow
Cascading from top to bottom
Of your scorched body
Maybe more would be best
To help cooling the system
May the sweat
Defeat the heat
Of a dire burning day

Ribbon- -
Ribbon! Ah! Ribbon
soul grown purple
the yellow banding
engaged and ornamenting
I see the storms
ribbons ever flown
blown in wind
engaged and beading
flings the rosette
in my dreams
waving and flying
thing of tape
waving in grace
the clinquant importation
waving purple ribbon

Old Umbrella
He masterfully portrays
Under an old umbrella
Stopping no rain from falling
Shows how moist life is
Lifting the stem higher up
Trying to keep rain away
Nothing seems to stop it all
Rain lands on his head
To his chagrin it rains hard
Beading down to his wet brow
He desires to throw it out
Useless contraption
Now the rain pours on his face
He debates life’s irony
How his luck has fallen down
As the rain descends

Picking a Date
Try to pick a date to meet
A few retired friends
And find it near impossible
For everything depends…
On travel plans or visits
With the kids from out-of-town
Or babysitting grandkids
Or the dentist (for a crown)…
Or tennis games or theater tix
Or else a craft-type class
In beading or in quilting
Or in knitting or stained glass.
How wonderful to have the time
Without a job to tether
But how complicated just to plan
A day to get together!...

The Darkness Three
Death again does not come for this soul tonight,
No control had this evening by a tortured soul,
The blade sliced so easily through the pale skin,
Very little pain dealt to handle the pain felt,
Blood beading so slowly, like the gathering of morning dew,
That copper scent flooding the senses, calming the soul,
Start feeling the calm wash over the soul, it wonders
How can something that others look down upon,
Be so very soothing to one's fears and woes....

Sharing a Quilt While Reading
Each tiny movement was a reminder of the share.
We had a bit of grandma’s warm quilt, chocolate in the air.
Mom’s making hot cocoa, I told my sis, with marshmallows I think.
We were happy to be here, wearing matching socks of pink.
My sister was reading a book but kept talking a bunch.
Whether or not she liked it, was a stretch, but I had a hunch….
It was not her favorite book, for she was ready to stop reading.
We ended up with Christmas cookies with frosting and beading....

Desire In the Night
Drops of sweat, beading and clinging
breaths of pleasure, carefully singing
motions carried to and fro
sighs embracing, craving hello.
Darkening passions never descending
grasping onto desire bending
tender night allowed to grow
devotion displayed in overflow.
Lasting memories forever deepening
emotions aflutter, gently careening
hoping against what we know
twilight consumed so long ago....
