Banshees and Angels

In this two-faced world
We play banshees and angels
Sculpting tender hearts
By spreading the pain we fear
Or sharing the love we feel

What Does the Fox Say

Creeping slick as silk
Crimson foxes scour the night
Like screaming banshees.

Mom and pups scatter
Like fluffy roaches fleeing
When we peek outside.

Majesty's Fall

There once was a majestic oak tree
Its leaves were magnificent to see
   But when those leaves fell
   They went straight to hell
Screaming like Halloween banshees

Headless Horseman

The headless horseman
Appears to folk on dark nights
They scream like banshees
The black steed gallops away
Frightened by such loud noises

Winter Ws

Winter - W/S

snow thunder rumbles
 white fire sparkles in flurries
  hummingbirds dine at feeders

brittle wind torrents
 howl like exiled banshees as
a fat robin hunts for worms

Abcdef

Assorted alliterative anteaters always near
Ballooning banshees believing in biosphere,
Courageous cook coaxing coat off bear,
Dubious dingo dickies digging in dog’s ear.
Effervescent energy Ebbers egg so clear.
Figures of speech shouting the nut job is here!

The Dark

Lying on my bed
In the dark
I have no fear
For I welcome
The dark
The black velvet
Envelopes me
Cocoons me
Soothes me
No ghosts, demons
Nor banshees’
In the still of the night
Permeate my darkness
For I’m not religious
I came from the dark
And I will leave
In the dark.

Remembering the 1980's

The eighties ignited a hair bomb
With Siouxsie And The Banshees
Cyndi Lauper and Platinum Blonde

With enough Final Net and a thorough tease
Your hair would stand up to the stiffest breeze

One Day

   Israel will be free
     from Muslim killing sprees

   Israel will be free
     from screaming leftist banshees

   Israel will be free
     from antisemitic UN decrees

   Israel will be free
     from the Jordan River
       to the Mediterranean Sea ~

          Israel will be free

Fickle

My cat’s asleep, curled comfy in your lap
while Winter’s howling banshees out the door.
Why would she choose your tummy for her nap?
My cat – asleep, curled comfy in your lap –
is sharing warmth against the blizzard’s rap-
and-whap. She never liked you much before.
My cat’s asleep, curled comfy in your lap
while Winter’s howling banshees out the door.

Faery

Spare me your pity and give me your spite,
‘tis a heartier diet for my kind of sprite.
My mothers are banshees who prey on your tears,
my sisters, the furies who feed on your fears.
The daughter of those who wail in the night,
the playmate of sirens, who in sailors delight.
In this land of faery, nightmares are formed;
my lips are the gateway, knight, be forewarned!

Halloween

A time for werewolves, zombies, bones,
For spiders, vampires, ghosts and bats,
Blood curdling shrieks and chilling moans,
Of walking corpses, witches’ cats,
See scuttling beetles, ghouls and rats.

Old warlocks chant and banshees cry,
The carved out pumpkins light the way,
And broomsticks soar across the sky,
As shrivelled mummies flaunt decay:
It’s Halloween or All Souls’ Day.

Me the mistake

Shadows in every corner
The devil rising up from the floor

My Mental health is on the edge
I can't take anymore

Banshees that scream fly around in my head
Graves are opening and releasing their dead

Frozen to the spot I can run or walk
Scared into silence can't seem to talk

I don't know reality and I don't know what's fake

Me being alive is just one big mistake.

Nostalgia

Sorcerer wearies of casting
Spells that nobody can feel,
Ghouls are impatient with fasting,
Death-knells no longer will peal.

Churchyard is grown up with wild weeds,
Marble tombs settle and crack,
Will-o-wisp dies in the marsh reeds,
Leprechauns never come back.

Vampires without an oasis,
Banshees with nothing to moan,
Ghosts who can’t find where their place is,
Skeletons, grave-less, alone.

Razors In Their Gloves

"Razors in their Gloves"

Keep thy enemies close
befriend the smiling banshees
holding their cowboy guns

such beings in love with love
all’s fair in love and war
dripping honeyed lines

for greenants to walk along

truth be known they’ll be
back in the ring
before too long

kissing windy cheeks
shaking hands
with razors in their gloves

Alliteration Exercise

When the whistling winter weather
freezes flora, fur and feather,
huddled hares hide in the heather,
languish lean and lined like leather.

Hear the howling hounds of Hell,
bloated banshees bearing bells,
sense the sickness in the cells,
silent serpent spitting spells.

Doom and darkness, dreams of death,
blushing brides with bated breath,
crazy crackheads cooking meth,
silent souls succumb to stress.

Black Carriage

Death's dark angel
Black carriage drives
Collecting lives
Final rewards

The carriage has
Matching horses
Pulling courses
All of them black

Death follows you
All of your life
Toil and strife
Can't escape Him

When it's their time
They all object
There's no respect
Everyone dies

Thanatos rides
The Banshees cry
Valkyries fly
None of them care

Halloween Is Only Two Months Away

Goblins, ghosts, ghouls, banshees and such.
Bewitching us with their magic touch.
Frankenstein sneaking up in the night.
Witch’s heavy brews that make us light.

As we kids levitate into the air,
Vampires chase, giving us a scare.
Halloween is fantastic kids’ play.
And it is only two months away!

Listen for the shriek of the bat or cat.
If you hear a moan run away out flat!
Fierce werewolves are on the prowl you see.
If they grab you, you’ll be dead like me.
