Thank you so much Andrea! We always have lots of different birds in our yard - perhaps its the feeders?! It just seemed natural to include them. Sending you warm blessings!

Paula, thank you so much! Winter is truly a hard time for the birds as they look for food. We have a hummingbird feeder and a bird feeder. They are always empty and need refilling! But we see the results in our fat robins and happy hummingbirds. Sending you warm blessings!

All that's been said Sam. Once more your imagery places the reader in the places you write of. 'Brittle' is a wonderful adjective to describe the wind torrents. 'Snow Thunder' conjures up great imagery too. A great read. Cheers - Gary

Thank you so much Victor! For me, even though winter doesn't have the bounty of color of spring, the images of the season are unforgettable! Hope you are well. Blessings.

My Dearest Rhyme Time Friend, your imagery is so dynamic and dramatic! I adore the rich contrasts drawn. Winter can be both wild and mild and your golden pen illuminates the poetic page with imagery both furious and tranquil. Your poetic finesse knows no bounds, my sweet poetry sis! Best wishes for a win and warmest wishes sent on hummingbird breezes.. ~Susan

My Dearest Rhyme Time Friend, sending you my heartfelt gratitude for your beautiful and very perceptive view of this winter haiku. More and more I am seeing winter as a season of stark contrasts - blacks and whites and reds, so unlike the rainbow of spring, the thunder storms of summer or the kaleidoscope of autumn - contrasts I savor like a warm cup of tea on a chilling winter afternoon filled with rain or snow! Your beautiful message is like that warm cup of tea to savor for it brings me blessings and joy sweet poetry sis! Sending you blessings in cascades of sparkling snowflakes! :)"

This feels like the contrast between the harshness of winter and the more gentle hand of spring, very descriptive as always!

Hi Michelle! Happy New Year! This was such a fun, new form of haiku for me. Winter is such a season of contrasts that, in my mind, lead to a new awakening in spring! Even in the cold and stormy days, spring's shadow is ever present in robins, hummingbirds and winter flowers like the daphne. Hope you are staying warm and cozy in all the northwest rain! Blessings.

'wind howling like exiled banshees' and 'flurries of white fire'.... The intensity of the chill winter... can it be better expressed in any other images.... ? I feel awed by your telling images at once arresting and eye catching, dear Sam.

Hi Evelyn! Thank you so much for your beautiful message! Your words are so meaningful to me. A lovely gift for the new year. This poem was inspired by a winter storm, a robin and the hummingbird that comes to the feeder outside my office window! Take care. Blessings of joy to you for a color filled new year!

Hi Kim! Thank you so much. As I watched a storm roll in I saw a very fat robin hopping across the lawn. Love it when nature paints magic in pictures!
