That statement causes
amusement in waves of our
mirth and pomp and stance
Swingers and shakers
have always hung around
gals'n watering holes
D'ya know what snack makes me elate
Green or red, I'm talking about grapes
That any day eat
A mouth watering treat
From California, we munch on like apes
Apes ate apples
Bears bear babies
Cats catch catfish
Dogs digs ditches

How similar are apes and humans
Don't underestimate apes, it's an illusion
They're capable of stuff
We imagine to be tough
But when brains were handed out, “evolution” sounded like “execution”
He’s finally free,
With his mate riding horseback.
Leaves prints in the sand.
Plans to change his world,
Now dominated by apes,
Do not kill for sport.
He then sees the past,
Fallen Lady Liberty,
Unveils man’s future.

The shrewdness of apes delights me so
I barely know where to turn, when to go.
They are more fun than a drift of hogs.
Who smell to high heaven, worse than dead frogs.
There is a school of fish that bothers me too.
They live next to the foxes in the hollow boot shoe.
Labor of moles are rolling their eyes at my plight.
Luckily the pride of lions has chosen to stay out of sight.
There are apes and great apes
And then there are bad apes
The bad apes are the kind who do heinous crimes
Without any remorse or conscience
They lash out at the great apes
Because they know deep down
They are bad and just don’t fit
When we catch them we lock them away
And sometimes simply let them go free
When what we really need to do
Is just put them and their supporters down
For the betterment of all the other apes
(6/11/26)
When we were young
We were boys in abandon playing
And I played like that
Going around and 'round
For a better hold,
A better hug,
A better embrace,
A better look at father's face
But he was not there
Big hairy and strong in arms
Love overflowing there
In sweet frolic of play
A rub of head
A little grooming, a flash
Of speed and suppressed alarm
All that would have been mine
And yours too
Had our father stayed to hear
Us grunt and split with gladness
The evening air.
See those primates rising before the sun?
Do you suppose this is how mankind had begun?
They jump up and down and make noise on the sand.
Guarding their watering hole, they take a stand.
They join together to make a group; never to be alone.
Any adversary is beaten to death with a bone.
Whoever thought these apes would start the human race?
After only a short time, they were traveling into space.
