Then the Evening Cometh

Strings build 'til they scream
The highest notes in two keys
A blazing sunset...

"Adagio for Strings" - Samuel Barber
(For my fellow classical music lover - Carrie Richards)
Form: Senryu

Adagio and Harmonic soothings

Wliless and while-most are
terms she wishes us to
believe are endearing
One poor who absolutely
Love while
One wealthy seems to understand
Me
Yet neither are the other

When you get to my old age of eighty-two You and your doctor, dance a pas de deux An entrée, an adagio Dance like two buffaloes Quite a pretty sight, worth a spleen or two

gently
     awakening
     half
        dreaming

still

in
that
no man's
           land
twixt
dream
     &
       reality
eye
wide
     open...
now
   engaged

Inspired by Vivaldi Autumn adagio

Something to think about?

Elegy

Lets live in photographs not yet taken,
memories lost in late winds,
wailing as the nightingale sings,
adagio, so slow...
and then no more.

My love,
Death is only the beginning,
because tonight our elegy is written.

there
       there
           not
              here
there
  lies
    the
      answer:
always
questions
queries
     non-stop
     each
     day
it
begins
    &never
     to end

inspired by Mozart flute k620 adagio
Form: Verse

A Mountain's Morning

Zig-zag mountain tips lay against the sky, marigold true.
They are sleeping giants waiting for the dawn.
As golden light seeps through
The blazing sun wakes adagio with a yawn.
Sun rays begin to unrest the peaks; a new day is in spawn.

so
softly
    on
     her
       feet
waltzing
toward
me
   bringing
   that
   aura
of
enchantent
     so
      endearing,
attraction
alive...
   .....calling
                   me

inspired by Mendelsohn Quarto 2 Adagio
Form: Verse

Premium Member Winter Moon

I whisper to the winter moon
in dialects of falling snow
the lyrics of my flurried rune.

I whisper to the winter moon
my wish for spring with blossoms strewn
piano and adagio.

I whisper to the winter moon
in dialects of falling snow.
Form: Triolet

Adagio

White rain
Falling
Like grains of rice
Feather-like
And frozen

Innocent, born in a breath
Bare, the new will replace the death

Weightless
Thoughtless
Senseless
Cold
Clean
Nothing here grown
Nothing in between
Only Adagio

Form: Imagism

Adagio

Newborn hair
sweeping the world aloud,
she moves easily,
frail fire.

and I've cast and will cast
the spectrum's of my reflections
in the element-
ed blink of thousands.

Slowly catching curves
with winding
through the one,
my only,
inexplicable
adagio.

Adagio

These shadows lengthen evening,
virescent and plum in that certain solemnity.

Do not think twice about the unthinkable,
it is a slow slide to an uneasy finish.

That certain order of the oleander is never clear,
it is not death, but life we fear.
