“The price of excellence
eternal vigilance”

Farmer Joe

There was a farmer named Joe
Who took his sheep dog to a show.
Joe started to weep
Instead of mustering sheep
His dog lined up seagulls in a row.

Premium MemberLarry the Gardener and Scruffy

Larry and his Sheep Dog Scruffy
Are together always on the road
Larry has knowledge of gardening
So he is well known by all
Larry has a huge van
So he packs what tools he needs
Even brings his lawn chair
As well his dog Scruffy and beer

He works from house to house
His dog Scruffy keeps him company
When the gardening is done
Larry and Scruffy play ball
When Larry's job is done
They play ball together
They are company for each other

Larry my gardener sits on my deck
He is a gnome sits in a lawn chair
His hat is red pointy on top
His beard is long and white
Green jacket,blue pants
the boots he wears is black

Scruffy is a two tone color
Lit grey and white in color
With a bright pink tongue
Scruffy is my statue dog

FEELING SHEEPISH

I’m learning to be a sheep dog
But sadly they’re stuck in a bog
One second they’re eating
The next they’re all bleating
A shepherd I truly am not!

My tummy it started to churn
Our owner said that I must learn
to silently creep
and round up his sheep -
my attempts he said he won’t spurn

My power I soon learned to wield -
I returned all the sheep to his field
When they hear me bark
The sheep have to hark
I’m ruling; the sheep have to yield!

The Farmers Wife.

Three sheep in the pig sty
how on earth did they get there?
The cows are in the stables
does anybody care?
The horses are in the top field
well, there's nothing wrong with that.
But the three sheep in the pig sty
were guided by our cat!

Why everything is topsy-turvey.
there's confusion all around.
Where's Shep our sheep dog?
He's nowhere to be found.
The farmers wife has realised
that farmers missing to
so without haste she goes to work
there's just so much to do.

Then just as she had finished
and turned to go to bed
she heard old Shep the sheep dog
Locked with farmer in
the garden shed.

Premium MemberHave You Ever Done This Type of Work Before - For Contest

“Have you ever done this type of work before”?

	“they’re sheep – I’m a sheep dog – are you serious?”

“Are you aware we have a dress code?”

“no way am I wearing a dress.”

“You will be interacting with our clientele daily”
“and to be kind --- you are a bit rough around the edges.”

“Have you seen your clientele up close?”
“I only wear my hair like this to fit in.”

“And there is the security clearance issue.”

“Security Clearance!!! If I can fit under the same fences
that they fit under…..that’s my security clearance.”

“So we’ll offer you the standard contract.”
“Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week,
fifty two weeks a year.”

“Hey, hey, I’m a sheep dog not their mother!!”

“DID YOU JUST LICK YOURSELF???”
“GET OFF THE FURNITURE!!!”

“Why did I ever take this Bo Peep contract??”

The Metaphorical Layer

I am a spirit
I shatter the dis-ambience of the country
with a flick of my fingers
a stone dashes for a ridge
with a tender tickle
trees rattle their drum branches
with the tip of my pinkie
I raise a rainbow to its potential
with the grasp of my hand
a tornado chews up cows
the length of my limbs
hurls waves towards their certain demise
my breath gives a sigh
to the wearied sheep dog
luxuriating atop a fenced-in hill
I was human once.
Do I perpetuate nature
out of resentment
or from kindness
It’s sure I’m invisible
but you’ll feel me
as hail strikes your bare neck

Nature's Heartbeat

Across in the meadow the animals stall

As away in the distance the farmer does call

To the old sheep dog "Shep"

"Away, come around"

The sheep respond cautiously

All milling no sound

The evening shadows lengthens

Tangibly a stillness descends

As nature's heartbeat changes

Chickens in alarm

A scurry of farmhands

There's a fox on the farm

Evading capture, in triumph he gains

Deft in his movements

His prize he contains

The farmer's gun up to his eye

Assuming the stance

Heaves a heavy sigh

Seeing his prey disappearing

Nowhere to be seen

As darkness creeps over

where the fox has been.
