Bitsy always goes barefoot, Sammy was told.
Never gets excited, her personality never gets old.
This was all from her grandpa, who thought she was gold.
After Sammy met her, he agreed three-fold.
Bitsy was an old-fashioned girl, who never got excited.
She cared not for news or who was getting indicted.
Sammy began pursuing her, she made him feel good inside.
“You are right, Leland,” he said. “she would make a wonderful bride.”

Sammy, the good lad
does enjoy the Summer days
He helps his parents in household chores
obeying* them with smile always.
Sammy, the good lad
is rejoicing in the Lord
He joins the annual Summer camp
to have fun, and read God’s Word.
Sammy learns to pray with faith
to the Saviour up above
That in Summer vacation
he can share more gifts with love…
O Sammy, the good lad
is so kind and cheerful
Teaching little boys and girls to sing
with Bible verses wonderful.
*Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

uncle sammy loaned
himself some money
to give to auntie nati's
newest honey
so uncle jerry
would do the very same
with mister rus to blame
for blowing pipes
but no one gripes
for honey a proxy
makes us all seem foxy

The tale of Sad Sack Sammy,
So the story goes.
A walking, talking, whiner,
Suffering his woes.
He never ever smiled,
Had nothing good to say.
He whimpered like a sissy,
All the livelong day.
His mood would always swing,
At home or when at school.
Sometimes melancholy,
Then complaining like a fool.
A lousy, luckless, loner,
Grew up without a friend.
No one could stand his presence,
'Cause he ranted till the end.
His fate would change at Fifty,
This local resident.
He chose a different path,
And ran for President.
Now everyone that knew him,
Was caught up on the blind side.
When all the votes were counted,
He won it by a landslide.

SAMMY
Love and joy felt enter my life
day saw Sammy arrive.
Suddenly emptiness vanished,
once again … felt alive.
Sammy gets extra comfortable
especially on my lap.
And I welcome his warm body,
when time for bed … or nap.
Under chin against my chest, that’s
the way we go to sleep.
Soon cuddle in curve of my back,
positions all night … keep.
Sammy’s lessened my loneliness,
love loudness of his purr.
Blood pressure Doc’s seen get lower
when sit … and stroke Sam’s fur.
Sam’s Improved quality of life,
my mental health, to boot.
Those don’t believe this possible,
guess what? … Don’t give a hoot?

we heard that sammy
had a mother called mammy
won grammy in miami
button and button
after we had gone hunting
who has the button
we started to search
in a place where he would perch
on bench made of birch
were with many fears
they even had bought some steers
after rounds of beers
money disappears
when their twilight nears
in hock up to ears
you should see long spears
they did use to kill a deer
poor at changing gears

My first car was a twelve year old Pontiac and this was in 1971.
I bought it from a boy I worked with at the grocery store.
His name was Joe, and he sold it to me for a meager $75.
I was making $1.58 an hour, so that was a huge price.
It was the ugliest color of green, but I loved it.
Because it was mine, and it went fast.
I drove it to college and back with a vengeance.
We tore up and down the road at eighty to a hundred miles an hour.
This was in the day when the cops were not out much
Except at the end of the month, and we all knew what day.
I named her Sammy, and I adored her until her engine blew.
Ka—put. She simply quit working. Bam!
I went to Joe’s house. His mother answered the door.
I told her I needed to talk to him; she knew I was serious.
I demanded and got my seventy-five dollars back.
I had only had that car for eight months.
I ended up marrying him, and we still laugh about it.
I think he would have given me double my money back.
He thought I was cute,
and I was.

Sammy, a big eared puppy, liked to lay in the sun
but playing in rain puddles was a lot more fun.
He was never afraid when he heard thunder roar
because he knew that soon, rain drops would pour.
Sammy looked out and saw the sky getting dark
He wagged his tail, then heard another puppy bark.
He ran outside when his owner opened the door.
When he let out a howl, the pup barked some more.
They talked for a while through the back yard fence.
Sammy learned his new neighbor's name was Spence.
Soon, Spence asked Sammy to be his best buddy.
Together they played in puddles, getting very muddy.

My new best friend was Sammy Snail
I found him slithering in my pail
I tried to keep him without fail
But from my pail he did abseil!
Our kitchen wall he tried to scale
Dad took him out, I start to wail
my little face it turned quite pale
I really miss dear Sammy Snail

Samuelson was a scatter brained wizard
One day he zapped himself into blizzard
Used wand upside down
His nickname was clown
He vanished, now wife has a pet lizard

Sang like a whippoorwill, up high on a hill
Played trumpet like Satchmo, with panache and skill
To watch that man tap-dance, gave even Gregory Hines a thrill
As Ella Fitzgerald told us, 'Sammy's pure talent' distilled

He seemed quite shy
did Sammy the Spy
Yet his reticence masked
a mind calculating, sly
When but a wee lad
Sammy uncovered the facts of life --
Picking his folks' bedroom lock
He gawked, then gasped, 'Oh, my!'
