Sama Poems

Dervishes

They begin to turn
Slowly unravelling
Arms unfurling,
then skirts,
Spreading outwards
Lifting upwards

Softly stepping
Grounding down
Their feet repeat
the pattern
On the earth
One around the other

Whirling round
Their circular orbit
Expanding out
ascending through
Sama and devotion
Ecstasy and love

From far I bow to such a land

Where fruits and flower trees they fell,
And safeguard thorny trees so well;
Peacocks, swans and cuckoos are killed,
Crows are offered a safety shield;
Tusks and donkeys as alike scaled,
Camphor equal with cotton held;
Where such a logic holds its clout,
From such a land let me bow out.

Atut Mitra aur anokhi Mitrata

Kuch baat to hai usme, meri dost hai wo jo mere liye khas to hai
Anya ladkio se alag hai wo kuch usme abhinn andaaj to hai
Ek Sukoon hai usme jo apnapan mehsoos kara, ruh me sama jati hai
Pata nahi kyun uski har ek baato me ek sachai nazar aati hai!!

Uski dosti hai mere lie sathi, har musibat mein saath rhta hai
Meri khushiyo ka safar, use bataye bina adhoora sa lagta hai
Dil se juda nahi, par hai ye dosti ka atoot rishta gehra
Har pal uske saath, lagta hai kuch khaas hai yeh mera!!

Kisi apne ne hi kaha hai, ek dayre se niklo, bohot achhe humse v milenge
Par maine koshish nahi ki, kyun ki karib se dekha hai ki jamana bharam hai
Dil ko choo gaya hai, ek sachha rishta mere sath hai
Daayra chota ho gaya hai, jaha ek dosti ka asli parichay har yaado ka mohtaj hai!!

Ye dosti kuch aisa hai, jahaan roj baat ho ya na ho, par ehsaas hai saath ka
Jahaan no thank you, no sorry, bas zarurat parne pe hota hai yeh pyaara wada sa
Nazar na lage kisi ko, bas ek dar hai dil mein kuch purane risto ka
Dua hai ek ki dosti hamesha kayam rahe, har mushkil mein sath ka izhaar ka!!

Tanabata Sama

People in love
say many things
only lovers understand
Hearing voices
ringing bells
that time cannot command
People in love
go hand in hand
to course the Milky Way
Promises made
as joy unlocks
—forever and a day

I Am It

"Thou art That" (Chandogya Upanishad 6.8.7 of the Sama Veda)

You wanna know what’s something you are not?
It is that easy. Take a piece of paper,
divide it into two parts with a pen,
entitle the left side as “I”, the right
one – “It” and then think twice about who
you are. A mate? A son? A spouse? A father?
Etcetera. Write down them on the left
and think again. What’s It? A pen? A paper?
The writing table you are sitting at?
The house you’re living in? Write down
them all on the right side and then cross out
the features which are neither You nor It.
Is “I” of you entirely determined
by features “man”, “taxpayer”, “citizen”?
Cross features out. Cross out everything
that’s not the real Itness which includes
all sets of Its throughout the universe,
reducing both lists until just “I”
and “It” remain. Read the result aloud...
Hm, I am It. The rest is I am not.

Tambag

Ang kahimtang sa pagka-estudyante
Dili sama sa pagdula ug online game,
Na kung ikaw buot ng mapul-an
Sayon ra kaayo nimu ning iundang.

Sa gikaingon pa sa usa ka istorya,
“Ang kinaadman maoy pundasyon sa atong katilingban.”
Busa estudyante isantok kinis alimpatakan
Ang pagtuon aduna usab gisapnay na tulubagon.

Tuod man ang kapit-os sa kinabuhi imung mabaktas
Peru dili kini ang rason ng ikaw muatras;
Kay ang pag-atras usa lamang ka timailhan
Nga ikaw way pagsalig tuod man talawan.

Busa ania ang matahom nga tambag
Sa mga kabudlay, hagit sa katilingban ug temtasyon,
Ang pagsalig sa kaugalingon ug Labing Halangdon
Mao’y labing maayo nga dapat nimung buhaton.

Kay ang tanan usa lamang ka pagsulay
Ug dili angay ikabudlay bagkos atong ikalipay,
Matod man angay igapasalamat sa Labawng Gamhanan
Kay kini timailhan, kita iyang gipangga ug gipiyalan.

Untittled

My Feelings are betraying me
I try to beileve
In what my mother used to tell me
That everything happens for a reason
But that I cannot beileve
I cannot beileve i was meant to be this sad
That I was meant to feel this pain
That my life was fated to be this way
Everything is sliping through my fingers
Just like sand
Then it flows in the wind
Traveling away from me
Out of my grasp
I will never reach it
Even tough I try
Okaa-sama, gomen nasai,
I cannot beileve anymore
I will miss the way the things you said
Used to explain everything
Even tough they never did
