Boy With An Eye

Betwixt the vibrant threads of a busy bazaar,
A foreigner's gaze seize on a singular star,
A boy with one eye, an enigma raid,
Their dialogue begins, a journey to trade.

"Your salesmanship shines," the foreigner inquires,
"Does schooling attend you? Or familial fires?"
Orphaned and lone, no kin he admires,
The boy's tale unravel, as ambition inspires.

"English, how come its in your tongue?" the foreigner probes,
Through travelers' tales, the boy's knowledge thorough on globe.
In the loom of life, where destiny robes,
Their discourse unfurls, where curiosity lobs.

But the foreigner, intrigued by a deeper array,
Asks of the boy, his eye's fate's ray.
"Taken away," the boy voice like a squall,
No pity sought, nor tears to enthrall.

"Would you wish for new eye?" the foreigner's quest,
To gaze upon wonders, life's behest,
Boy apprise "I'd rather dwell in darkness, at rest,"
Than with one eye, bear life's test.

Silence ensues, the foreigner's heart sways,
By the boy's resolve, in life's maze,
A cashmere carpet purchased, in a daze,
Their encounter profound, in bazaar's craze.

Those Tommies send their planes in large amounts
They drop their bombs but all they do is bounce
Like rubber balls their bouncy bombs all missed
Those British pilots must be really…

The steward asked the ‘Lady’ won’t you please enjoy our boat
The RMS Titanic is the safest ship afloat
The lady huffed and said a little service would be nice
I’ve got my gin and tonic… could you organise some ice?

Vesuvius is puffing out some wispy smoke today
They say there could be fireworks to brighten up Pompeii
How many more times will they say that mountain’s gonna go
And won’t somebody tell me what’s a pyroclastic…

Oh!

I learned my skills in marketing back in seventy three
For twelfth century Pisa was a training ground for me
I proved my salesmanship to market trader, Uncle Neville
I even got a few quid for that dodgy spirit level

Once upon a distant dream you were fit and lean.
Could eat almost anything.
Slam drinks until the vampire's sunrise
but still make the whistle on time.

Now your bloated mirror is the alpha enemy.
You need more naps than a colicky baby.
Even the flats seem like a steep climb uphill.
Your countertop flanked like a mountain of pills.
Some for the mind phantom.
Some for the real ailments.
Piggy backing doctors who don't interact.
it's no longer a balancing act.
it's a swarm of blood shot eyed jackals.
Waiting for your collapse.

Truth is, it didn't happen overnight.
It was a slow decline down a barbed wire slide.
A concoction of snake oil charmers
Big pharma politicians.
Slippery salesmanship...lack of discipline.
Let us not forget about that sinister-sadistic - unforgiver!
                         Time.

Just Google It

I had some friends over for tea
To sing happy birthday to me
I forgot to buy the KFC
So thought I'd give them a treat
So when you want to eat Chinese
And you really want to noodle it

Just Google it !.

Their gifts of money made me rich
Making money seemed like a cinch
I didn't need a salesmanship pitch
To make myself a little niche
When you need to know the dollar
and how value of the rubel sits

Just Google it !.

The Facebook photos made me seen
To all of my friendly team
At least that's how it seems
Please hit "like" on your Computer screen
When you're insecure
And you need a new approval hit

Just Google it !

Looking for identity
And where your family history fits,
Need to know the goss
And the latest greatest show biz split,
Need to make a speech
And you need a joke to show your whit,

You know what to do !...

When you need to know your clan
And the colour of your tartan kilt...

Just Google it !.

Toxic Cake
       by Odin Roark

How drippingly fine
The words that coat
Such layered density
Icing thick enough
To entice the fool
Along with seasoned critics
Into toxic waste goodness

Persuasion chefs united
Gourmet salesmanship
Learned minds
Street smart minds
Tribal and nepotistic minds
All hawking hidden contagion
Beneath their ever sweet glazing

One day
A global cake will be rolled out
For all to gorge on
Unaware from the top
Might explode layered poison
Well surpassing avoidance

Our own demise
A recipe created by sentient impotence
The giant bite
The final swallow
The sweet tooth seduction
That never was

Poor Salesmanship

An estate agent from the Forest of Dean
Was known to be terribly mean
His clothes they would reek
As he'd worn them all week
But he was doing his bit to be green
