Life Weary, So Hungry I Could Eat A Dry Bone
Trekking through fire breathing desert, yes all alone
Mouth full of sand, shattered heart so heavy too
Life weary, so hungry I could eat a dry bone
Looking back at this life, where were the breaks my due
I recall all hellacious bad times that came
The motorcycle wreck when I was but fifteen!
All those shots that should have given me greater fame
Those barroom brawls, man that one dude was so damn mean
I laughed, I ran full amok, a bit crazy
I cried like a baby when they shot down Dean
I raised hell doing farmwork but was not lazy
School was a blast but math work I wasnt too keen.
Trekking through fire breathing desert, yes all alone.
Life weary, so hungry I could eat a dry bone one.
Mouth full of sand, shattered heart so heavy too
Looking back at this life, where were the breaks my due.

My life in my youth was anything but dull.

All but vanished but now revivified
The old stone mansion...
Where the last surviving member of the rich family died
New grown roses lie there abed
Pink for women, yellow for gents...
For children, orange and red
The family cemetery remains- in which all who have passed
Old and moss covered 'cept the old man "Luther's"
'Cause he died...the last
Refurbished with paint- the old mansion looks new
There's a stone plaque on the new lawn
A remembrance- for all the friends they once knew
A new family resides there now- known as the "Proctor's"
A newlywed couple...
Whose both parents were doctors
The wife is a painter, the husband is a hard-working roofer
Her name is "Rose"
His name is "Luther"

Raindrop falls from God's eye and runs off the cheek of the child
cowering behind a dumpster for warmth
It stings the face of the roofer struggling to finish the job
to buy shoes for his children
The villager raises his hand to raindrop as it fills his rice paddy
Raindrop cleans the air and reminds us of new beginnings
Raindrop gives its life force to the raging oceans, seas, rivers
and the mighty rainforests
Raindrop races to crash out of the riverbank
on its course of destruction
He cools the early evening after a long hot day
He travels on an iceberg and lives in the depths of the Earth
He decides to show his crystals to happy children
on a white Christmas morning
He falls on summer night and rises to a foggy sunrise
Raindrop gives the farmer a huge smile as it falls to do it's work
Raindrop reminds us God is good as it joins the rainbow
on its journey back to Heaven
For raindrop is eternal and is with us today, gone tomorrow and will surely return someday

Like to dedicate this to my late dad who was a roofer
So dad, if your up there... you nailed it
Now that sounded a bit disrespectful don't you think
Sorry, should strike the ladder from my script
You can't drink away alcoholism while lying in the gutter
So just take small sips on your couch
That way you'll be much more relaxed and comfortable
When you puke and won't be such a grouch
Why did a blonde stare at a frozen orange juice can for an hour
It read concentrate... now that makes sense
When thing's are coming your way, you're in the wrong lane
Then things will hit you and make a dent
Women spend more time wondering what men are thinking
Then men do, just spend time thinking
Was worried my mechanic would rip me off but was relieved
Said I needed turn-signal fluid, had no inkling

Totally Triumphant King
Was Martin King middle name Luther
Who we understand had been a roofer;
Trouble trying to get to the bottom of,
While living in country all full of love.
What he had seen from roof so tall;
Objects below that seemed so small;
People all full of spirit and emotion,
Confused by the much commotion.
All the things that God does forbid,
Should try to destroy and of get rid;
In Capital sin is continually growing,
King set example and it was showing.

Even though this is not poem of the day,
Be sure and send to everyone anyway.
If you do, then I can forward it to all of
my friends and put on FaceBook.

There was a roofer named Bob Ringles
Who liked to go to dances for singles.
There he met his soul mate
Who OK'd a wedding date.
'Til she learned Bob had the shingles.

I once knew this guy. Fred McBride
Whose wishes were sadly denied
He was wed in the spring
But before he could bring
the needs, of his wife, satisfied !
It's a shame that this groom and his bride
Purchased bedsprings, wrapped, coiled and tied
Big Fred jumping on
Bounced up and was gone !! ...
Through the ceiling, the roof, then outside !!
Poor Fred hit his head, and had died
Leaving gapes in the roof, long and wide
That bed was spring-loaded
The bride soon reloaded
her bed, ...where a roofer resides !!

Of His Very Own
He is a Lutheran because Martin Luther
Was a church builder and also a roofer
On top of things and steeples liked to stay
Making sure marvelous churches were on display.
Why laugh a little when you can a lot
Each church for people in choir have sought
While his voice up in air was held suspended
He joined choir knowing it was so splendid.
As a baby was great at building blocks
Hanging on fireplace place Christmas socks
People want quality and won't leave him alone
Now he has construction business of his own.
How is this poem as an introduction for
Steve Schultz of Southern Comfort Homes
who built our house for us? Jim Horn
