Bruno enrolls in the tertiary
For a full program in Fishery.
Dad had judged his first course treachery
Or Bruno risking self trickery...
In their lusty town much revelry,
In which fish faces not rivalry:
Fish more than meat touched by cutlery,
Sometimes costing more than Jewelry!
So, Bruno vows "In the tertiary
It'll be none other than Fishery.
Thrice, Fishers charged at by cavalry,
Not by the knights of sworn chivalry;
Rather by The Dead to ribaldry:
The fish-starved in Haberdashery.

Always be certain --
Don’t expect forgiveness
Given harmful indignation
Just keep laughing
My noble opponent
Particularly quarrelsome
Ribaldry seems to unleash
Very worrisome x-rays,
You zygote!

The endomorph enjoys our affection
as the comic figure of tradition.
Friar Tuck, Falstaff, and Old Toby
recall rotund revels and ribaldry.
Devils are always portrayed as thin.
the clown invariably has a double chin.
Unlike the hero, who's always victorious,
his wind and walk are somewhat laborious.
Though he's never very heroic,
who honestly ever loved a stoic?
Confronted by his conviviality
cynics think rather jealously:
'It's just that unlike the lean
he's much too slow to be mean.'

Day One – Spare Us
Oh God, of all that is poetic,
spare us thirty days of……of
P O E T R Y….
The banal cadence of the classics
The raucous ribaldry of the sonnets
the curse – of angry verse.
Spare us the reading
of the melancholy meter
the drone of the didactic
the screech of the sacred.
Save us from Satanic soliloquies,
demonic diatribes,
maniacal mantras.
Oh, God of all that is poetry
free us to be poets
to write –
of unfelt winds
to bathe –
in unseen rains
to be cleansed –
by frigid flames
to be molded –
by life’s throwing wheel
let us exhale in words
the truthful wind
the calming rain
the purifying fire
the earthy words
of here
of now
of poetry.

I am both wind and whisper
as the tenderness of life's rush
mellows the passage of posterity
I am both forgiving and fiery
to the softening of obduracy
I can be sorrowful and somber
or a paragon of felicity.
I may be sincere, sometimes I'm not
from truth to a degree of fakery
I am the rashness of ribaldry
as the coarseness of a day of wrath
and the sense of a better path
chosen with wise analogy
I am defiled and graciously defined
oft praised and oft maligned
I am both reason and rigidity
for truth be told
I am the absolute worst and
the ultimate best of humanity
Both wind and whisper
I am you!
