Premium MemberIn a New York City minute

another weekday
she awakens
to the sunrise aroma of
preset coffee brewing

her eyes still closed
she thinks about her day
and slowly starts to form
thoughts in her head

so much to do
so little time
a jolt of java
revs up the engine

give her a minute
she'll come to life
another sip
and there it is

it's all systems go!

Run Away

He sneaks into the yard.
Being outside isn’t that hard.
Until the lawn mower revs up.
And the sound of a dog starts to erupt.
He decides maybe home is better.
He’ll even put on his sweater.
But he finds he has wandered too far.
He’s afraid of being hit by a car.
He runs to the closest house.
Out comes a lady in a blouse.
She gives him some food.
Which eases his mood.
He decides not to worry about finding his way back.
He’d rather enjoy his snack.
Until his mom knocks at the door.
Only to hear him snore.
Feeling betrayed by her own cat.
She takes him home and that is that.

active billionaires

Active billionaires

We get tired of his face, which is a mirror
into his soul shows an obsession with self
has drowned his tender heart was
in agreement with the world around him
it is about power, the dislikeable want
to be loved, to show strength is second
best to be feared when love fails
overactive and exhaustive, he bothers
about things that are unimportant for
for us, but of vital interest his one road
self-centered intelligence, to be liked he
has to feign compassion for those he sees
as a loser and secretly despises
in silent moments, he senses his loss,
but feels defeated til the  engine of his busy
life revs up, and he can throw himself into
the clamor of a life that is a mere echo of
the loss he has suffered.

Premium Memberoctober noon sounds

weird bird tweet
cheep cheep cheep
traffic in the distance
barely perceptible breeze

rooster crow
dogs chase squirrel
his get away is lickety split
up a hickory tree

wind chimes a merry melody
smell of autumn leaves
a far off conversation
drowned out by ambulance siren

motorcycle engine revs
trill of another bird
I soak up the sunshine
feeling safe in Vitamin D

dog’s gruff bark startles me
his pal runs off the porch
air conditioner kicks on
the only sound now except the wind chime
gentle sounds of an October day at noon

In the Midst of Time

In the midst of timeless time, I stand;
But still, she does not stand,
Elegantly moving, tick tock, tick tock, all day,
The price of delay, too heavy to pay.

Millenniums tick by like ponderous dinosaurs,
Time never blinks, always ticking and tocking,
Centuries come, centuries go; no scaurs,
To tell the tale of an ancient king.

Decades tumble upon others,
Years like yesterday roll by,
Months and days tuck arms together like brothers,
Time in a rush, no time to say goodbye.

By the hours, time revs up speed,
Minutes not enough to run,
With frantic fingers, seconds arms feed,
The last of time allocated and moves on.

Premium Member9 AM Friday

Windows open
A slight breeze teases
The hair on my legs
Goose bumps jockey
For position
A neighbor’s cat
Plots its escape
A racoon is taken away
In “paw” cuffs
A squirrel shakes the bird feeder
Sparrows wait below
A passing dog
Leaves another “blonde spot”
On my alleged “lawn”
An old Dodge Charger revs angrily
At the silence of the Tesla
Two crows make a mockery
Of the debate
I pause for an imaginary commercial
Alas there is no mute button for nature
Some guy in Minnesota
Wants to buy my house
My “check engine” lite came on
I checked
It’s still there
Well, gotta go change
The fish tank water
It hasn’t been the same
Since they went to school

Premium MemberA Placid Docile April Day

it is one of those placid docile what-do-we-do April days.
I sit outside naked except for my light polyester mumu.
an airplane wakes the cloud with her powerful engine noises.
my wind chimes tingle a mirthful melody.

Sophie, my cocker spaniel sits behind me, she is an inside dog.
Buddy, our husky mix trots a giant six pound bone around in his mouth.
there is a car on Kansas Avenue, we cannot see it, but we hear it.
nothing else is moving until I spy a blue jay landing on a branch.

so light in hue, that he could be an arctic jay, he is the lightest gray.
annoyingly loud muscle car can be heard in the distance, tearing up a street.
roosters behind me begin to crow, even though it is noon.
melodic chimes heighten their melody as today’s breeze picks up.

trilling of birds gives me a reassuring thought of God in the yard.
behind me I hear the purr of our porch refrigerator.
if there has ever been a calmer day, I was not aware of it.
someone revs a car engine far off in the distance.
old man or boy, I think, or old lady in a mumu. This makes me smile.

Premium MemberThe Motel Goodrest

With plates and words in anger flying
My wife and I now deem it best
To cease all our screaming and crying
As I check into the Motel Goodrest

I arrive and plop down for a blissful night
But for two hours a car’s engine revs; varoom!
Above me screeching shouts; a lover’s fight
And the loud thumping of the bed in the next room

A frantic eeeouu; a cayote cat snack?
Now the zzz-zzz of a neon sign on the blink
If I had any brains I’d start to pack!
But I sigh aaah; into slumber I sink

Sun shines through the drapes and onto the wall
There’s splish-splashing in the motel pool
It was a calm, restful night after all
Yipee! Now everything’s cool!

I hear a loud clomp-clomp; what now?
There’s a moo so low and mournful
Through the window peers the eyes of a cow
Looking a bit weary and scornful

I pack and flee as if for my life
Passing the cow whose bell clangs and claps
I check out and meekly return to my wife
And spend the weekend taking naps

Once Again Five Haiku

THE OLD WOMAN
The old woman
begging in busy streets
getting abused

LEAVING DAD
My mother said to me
dear son I’m divorcing your dad
good luck to him

LIVING
The engine revs and the wheels turn
my heartbeats and life goes on
in slow-motion

ASLEEP
Snoring gently the body sleeps
on a bed under the quilt
dreaming along the way

A DATE
Dating a blue nose lady
with skin as white as snow
a bulldog breed

A Slight Delay

The brakes squeak
and the car hisses…..
a puncture

The spare tyre replaced
the engine revs again
the journey continues.

Premium MemberGood Fights Evil

Good fights Evil, so Evil increases her onslaught.
But Good is not giving up, more sure than ever.
Evil revs things up, throwing in cousins of power.
They laugh and banter, attempting to intimidate Good.

Good holds on, feeling more confident than ever.
She is going to win this battle, for she sees Evil’s frustrations.
Evil is tipping his hand, increasing his show with memories.
Attempting to frighten Good, however, Optimism joins her.

Good and Optimism encourage Joy and Happy to help.
Evil finally gives up, for the wholesomeness of the four is too strong.
The young maiden wakes up and throws her sleeping pills out.
No longer interested in taking her own life.

Premium MemberAlone In My Silent Corner

Silence is such an attractive voice
listening to nothing but silence speak
there in that space all alone
your hearing revs up not all weak

I love to go on a walk alone
especially among nature, hear the sounds
God sometimes uses His created birds
twirping and humming all around

Sometimes I listen to just silence
keeping my ears open and in tune
it's amazing the sounds silence speaks
more clearer even than full moon

I love silence more than voices
having my stammer hard to talk
silence brings release from all stress
in my moment there I can unblock

(This is written on what silence is to me. How silence show me what words can't say.)

Premium MemberSprinkling

Rain sprinkled on my forehead.
She sprinkled on my nose.
She sprinkled off my freckles.
And went other places sprinkle goes.

Rain dripped past my armpits
She dribbled down my belly.
She oozed past my knees.
Sliding past breakfast jelly.

Rain pooled in my crevices,
Luckily I did not mind being wet.
Sprinkling kind of revs me up
You would know that if we’ve met.

Premium MemberOrange Stimulates Every Fiber

Orange stimulates every fiber of my being
Coaxing out the most creative sides of myself
Sizzling singing slinging dazzling dancing prancing orange.

The happiest color there could ever be
She revs me up, excites my libido, enthuses and amuses
Orange increases my joy by leaps and heaps

She shows me the tango, flashes her brazen smile,
Pirouettes in high heels, and flips me some sassy.
I would be lost without orange actually; adrift and helpless.

Premium MemberShe Does It All Every Day

Wakes before the fourth hour
  Straight into the shower
Gets dressed in a wink
  Downstairs in a blink

Quick cup of coffee
  A glance at the news
Washes all the dishes
  Plans the day's menus

Prepares all the food
  Fresh, tasty, so good
Works from home for an hour
  Revs up the brainpower

Drives to the train
  Sun, snow, or rain
At work by 8:30 a.m.
  Back to the grind again

She does it all every day
With a smile on her face
My wonderful wife Rina
Removes the rat from the race
