I can see them.
Even after almost being impaled.
Still.
I could die without even knowing.
Instead, I don’t.
I saw them outside today.
Hot tea does that to you.
Makes everything burning hot.
Recoiling.
As if they’re coming for me.
Sipping.
An old premonition.
I can see.
The people that were supposed to be here-
But sometimes appointments have to be rescheduled.
Downhill.
I can see them.
Ominous as hot tea.
I could have driven to work to take my mind off things.
The things that are like ghosts, and also like a pile of laundry.
If laundry could kill me, I would never go home.
That’s what death is.
I decided to sleep in my car in the parking lot.
An old premonition…
Gets tiring to keep track of.
Did I put on the parking brake?
And lock the doors?
I would laugh, but then I’d start over.
And that’s what outside does to me.
Carries me to my car.
Never go home.
So the premonition goes.

The tails we tell ourselves To make ourselves feel warmth. restart with goodnight then we've changed. We believe the lies we tell ourselves Need those tails to tell ourselves hugs. Kisses jumps before you sleep. All emotional thrills the truth we never seek.
The truth is cold sharp and it kills even if the truth is supposed to heal.
The truth never matters the lie was the big deal. We take only what we feel is necessary to carry, but we never take We take only what we feel is necessary to carry. But we never take what is needed to care. The tails others tell us are selfish unnecessary selfish lies. To keep us docile. Denial is our friend and regret is always rescheduled, Our minds are beautiful. They without command push the truth so far back that years of denial becomes a padded lock. It's those who face the truth that dont have smiles or parties.
The honest, the downer, the hated, the ones who say nothing, do nothing, just walking through life not messing with anyone. Only to be met with contempt. Why? Because the truth is in our walk, head up and eyes straight, its in our voice calm and direct. Not a leader but they follow, Not a talker but they ask for a speech.

A poem for Lillie on her christening day
Spurs game rescheduled in an unkind way
It's important and we’d love to watch them play
Need to put it into perspective though and say
We can catch the highlights because this is Lillie’s day
She’s a bundle of joy, a gift from heaven
Early years needing attention twenty four seven
Imposing instant demands on Dad and Mum
Cries of feed me now and change my bum
Two big brothers, a bond you can see clearly
Watch them all together, they love her dearly
A pleasant day with family and friends
But this isn’t where the gift of Lillie ends
We can look forward to the coming years
There’ll be times of smiles and some tears
Nobody knows how the future will unfold
But our precious Lillie will be ours to hold

Some friends are going on a tour;
Invited us to join.
You’d think it would be easy
To decide - just flip a coin.
We’d meant to take a trip with them
When Covid reared its head.
We got our money back; our friends
Rescheduled instead.
Since then, they’ve started traveling,
For life, of course, is short
And though this tour sounds wonderful,
I am a worrywart.
I’ll mull it over and discuss
But think I’m disinclined,
So once again, our friends will go
And I will stay behind.

The Business of Autumn
David J Walker
1. The season of dry clouds and Canada Geese
Arrived over the weekend
2. The weatherman says the freeze was
too light last night to have been noticed
3. A frost is in the forecast but rescheduled
for some other tomorrow
4. The full moon demands homage
deserving its observations
5. before the sun sets
on another harvest
6. The farms have formed seas of
ripe corn and white cotton
7. bordering a thousand small towns
in every direction
8. allergens release in the winds the
invisible seeds of misery
9. The last days and nights of the whine of
cotton gins bailing good fortune
10. The business of autumn comes to an end
On the fairway of a county fair
11. The next rain will be cold and will
Hold its verdict … Ice or snow…
until after Thanksgiving

appointment rescheduled and so we wait
there being no cause for agitation
each moment complete in stillness sedate
unendingly renews bliss elation
irrespective of outer circumstance
pristine aliveness our meditation
egoless soul has no self-importance
knowing all unfolds as is so ordained
orientation joyous acceptance
Our vaporised self, thus pure and unstained
Assimilates wisdom in soul ingrained

Because of the weather, the game was rained out.
Baseball is something many of us can’t do without.
It’s the only sport we get to see throughout the summer.
When the game is postponed, it usually is a bummer.
For a few lucky cities, they can close the roof up top.
When playing indoors, rain will not make the game stop.
However, in most cities, they have to play outside.
When the rain comes down, there is no place to hide.
It doesn’t matter if your seats are in the lower or upper deck.
If the game is called, they will only give you a rain check.
You have to go home if the teams do not play.
Just come back when the game is rescheduled another day.

No more the curse of what is bad,
enduring cause, or so-so sad
I am the circle of the mad,
disciple of implore . . . the Had!
This venture, trusted counterfeit
the soul's combustion ~ make it fit,
alas, alack, the sum of it,
I am rescheduled ~ my work's bit!
Oh labor lost, the onion's pit
has much more flavor ~ keep, not spit
approve, thy own concern with grit,
a self conferring, truth not skit!
No cause demurring can restrict,
this thought occuring ~ I've had it!

Happily never ever after,
Said the frog to the princess,
"We have only til' midnight until this fairytale is over"
With a glide of a wand, the godmother reversed back all memories
Of stories made up of tall tales, and Disney wishing,
"Your prince has yet to come out of the closet
and admit he's been stealing your shoes... or in your case... your stepsisters
Your mother called her botox appointment has been rescheduled,
Your father is out busy doing one of the fairies
Oh! and the enchanted wonderland you live in is over due with rent,
either pay up or move out!
This concludes all the messages for you, out of spacebook
One more thing, I sent you a request; add me as your imaginary friend, and check
out my wall of last winters "Dramatic Ball Gowns" festival"

rushing one morning I missed the bus
and found out the next day that It was in an accident
there were some fatalities
It was not my time
the airplane trip that I was scheduled to take
was moved up to an earlier flight
because the meeting was rescheduled.
the flight that I would have been on crashed
there were fatalities
It was not my time
I was hailing a taxi cab on a rainy afternoon
but a man in a Brooks Brother suit
jumped into the cab before I could reach It
the cab was broad sided by another vehicle
a half block away from where I was still standing
there were fatalities
It was not my time
I have begun to see that God is sending me a message
He's letting me know that I still have work to do
in His name and for His glory
I now know without a doubt that I am a child of God
covered by the sacrificial blood of His son Jesus Christ
so I will diligently continue to work, worship and witness
for the Kingdom Of God
Until It's my time
