Walking a thin line

i don't believe you
i want to but i can't
you're smoke and mirrors

you're on you're off
you're on again
you're here you're gone

you're all attention
when i explode
your minimum is not enough

you don't impress me
you fail at every chance
your minimum will never be enough

put on the spot you make the effort
but empty promises is what i get
convincing at the time as they may be

you fail to inspire confidence
why i haven't given up on you
remains somewhat of a mystery

your minimum keeps you afloat for now
you're hovering on thin borderlines
and you seem quite content at that

you make promises
that i keep taking
in good faith

you don't follow through
you keep falling short
is that really all you've got?

but when i turn the tables
i have to wonder
why it is that i'm ok with that?

I need to know if you're ready
to meet me halfway ~
