Metal, blood, and mascara
Half sunk a shattered visage lies,
A wrinkled lip, a sneer of cold command,
Of boundless and bare
Along the level, sands stretch far away.
the imagery of night, snow, virginity,
lipstick on cigarettes,
cars trapped in the snow,
dingy white sheets, and the chosen few ….
I still drink cider and black
Metal and blood and mascara
Of sackcloth and ashes
Black eyelashes
Blood and hot metal
Half sunk a shattered visage lies,
The ruins of a half-god
Eyes stare wide all along the sands
In a White House on a foreign shore.
Metal, mascara, and methedrine
A half shattered visage die
A wrinkled lip, a sneer of teeth
and leering eyes
Of boundless bare thighs
a hollow sun flares
Along the level,
as the sands stretch far away.
Ode to Ramesses in Poseidon depths lie…

Like the ancients of old
I dare to be bold
Pyramid developer
I was Ramesses
in the third trimester
A king forthcoming
Deuturonomy destined
Babe placed in basket
Growing up in a world
where white was in
gave my heritage
suicidal ideations
Luckily I found me
a king waiting
in the reeds
Blackness stealthy
as a panther waiting
to pounce and confiscate
the ignorance drapped
over me
Finally situated in my own skin
when I look in the mirror
I can't believe I'm him.
A prince, riding chariots
in the wind, daring to be
like the ancients of old.
Questioning every lie
I was ever told.
Getting back to bold.
I am Him.
Divinity evolving

Ramesses rules with an iron hand
a god beneath a blistering sky
Hittite chaff fell, he took their land
beneath his chariots wheels they die.
Hundreds were herded slaves all
to serve at the pleasure of the King
man or beast he claimed by might
and for his pleasure they did brawl,
chained, and claimed, few surviving.
He build his cities beneath death's pall.
Worshiped was he in temples true
his semblance graces Abu Simbel
with eyes wide o'er a lake so blue
his gaze belays the infidels.
Beside him she, Queen Nefertari
laid claim to a sacred place
held above all others was his wife
most renowned for her beauty
a love to last through time and space
may all true hearts pay such tariff.

Perched high upon the escarpment
of sandstone rubble, the boy sat,
shaded from the rising of the sun
in the shadow of Kings.
Sharp eyed he preyed
upon the tourist below, and to his God Allah.
His path was a treacherous one
looped and twisting like the snakes of ochre gold
shone cresting the brow of Ramesses
in the unearthly Valley of the Kings;
far from the osprey and marsh grass
of the beloved Nile.
Below the boy, on a zigzag path
between the mouth-like openings to the netherworld,
tourists swarm, ants on a mound of honey stone
suckers of sweetness, oblivious,
as they had done for centuries.
He sat as his father before him
hunkered down knees to chest
the vulture heraldic creature of Upper Egypt
death eater, little had changed except
now the robbers wore blue jeans and not the hajab.
He had earned his small bit
of the twentieth century..hawking

No raised pinnacle marked the place
No pure white limestone shining
Where Ramesses slept looked commonplace
to foil the robbers scrying.
Yet he had moved the earth and sky
this pharaoh disdained all rivals.
His bounty buried beneath the sand
portrayed a life beneath blue skies
his star encrusted tomb ethereal
his Ka rising from Death’s hand.
The hills of Thebes his place of rest
and beneath him his father lay
amongst the great he’d be the highest
his battle standards on display.
He ruled with iron hand on staff
as a Godhead he was portrayed.
Most mighty and acclaimed, no man
was he, who felled the Hittite chaff;
beneath his chariots wheels flayed
the denizens of Egypt’s land.
Worshiped was he in temples true
his semblance graces Abu Simbel
with eyes wide o’er lake so blue
his gaze belays the infidels.
Beside him she, Nefertari
laid claim to a sacred place
held above all others his wife
most renowned for her beauty
a love to last through time and space
may all true hearts pay such tariff.
