DAILY GRATITUDE RABBITS

Today I’m grateful for rabbits
I often wonder if they were created…
to remind us life is meant to be simple…
and it is us who make it complicated…

RABBIT EXPERIMENT

The Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert grow up listening to the stars…
and feeling the joy their music brings….
but for most of us the stars are silent…we have never heard them sing.

Nor can we talk to the flowers, the forest…the oceans
and all the animals who within them dwell…
We’ll never know the adventures they’ve had…

Do you remember years ago, 
the mystery so profound? 
that frightful day the rabbits came to town.

They were quieter than mice.

Dreams come clearly as I lie in my bed,
thinking of the creatures alive below me.
I cautiously draw up the comforter edge.
Beneath the mattress,
beneath the sheets,
beneath the platform,
I see them and withdraw quickly.
They are there!
The demons,
the Daimos,
the creatures that scream in my nightmares.
Two of them, living in the dark, dankness under me.

In the golden light of morning bright,  
We gather, hearts aglow with delight,  
Kids and grandkids all around,  
Behind the drapes and corners of the house, off we’re bound. 

We play a game of hide and seek,  
Laughter fills the air, cheek to cheek,

THANKFUL FOR RABBITS

Today I’m thankful for rabbits…
I learned a valuable lesson from rabbits
when I was just a boy:
How to leap into each new adventure 
with a blend of enthusiasm…and joy.

Chef Rabbits Special Stew

Chef rabbit’s specialty was lovely, marvelous cabbage-carrot stew.
One year there was a drought, and he did not know what to do.
No cabbage anywhere around, okay, maybe he could scrounge up two.

The Rabbits

Three Rabbits gather
Below the driveway
they sit and ponder
When to go inside
To search for their food

Three patches of plants
They eye the bushes
Two rabbits enjoying
Eating the new plants
They run off to hide
Until the next day

All the plants were new
The bushes were new
Now both plants and bushes 
Look crooked and thin
They are ruined 
By the three rabbits

I Flip Rabbits
