Today I’m grateful for rabbits
I often wonder if they were created…
to remind us life is meant to be simple…
and it is us who make it complicated…

Premium MemberRABBIT EXPERIMENT

The Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert grow up listening to the stars…
and feeling the joy their music brings….
but for most of us the stars are silent…we have never heard them sing.

Nor can we talk to the flowers, the forest…the oceans
and all the animals who within them dwell…
We’ll never know the adventures they’ve had…
never hear the

Premium MemberWhen the Rabbits Came to Town

Do you remember years ago,
the mystery so profound?
that frightful day the rabbits came to town.

I'm sorry. I didn't see you.
Were you not around?
to feel the chill of when the rabbits came to town.

They were quieter than mice.
You couldn't hear a sound -
or did you hear it when those rabbits came

Scare the snakes out

All rabbits chased out of their holes,
Snakes now make their burrows their own:
Their venom, their flight it controls.
All rabbits chased out of their holes.
How to scare out the snakes, their goals?
The snakes not worried, as they moan.
All rabbits chased out of their holes,
Snakes now make their burrows their homes.

Premium MemberVelutinous Lagomorphs-A Halloween Poem

Dreams come clearly as I lie in my bed,
thinking of the creatures alive below me.
I cautiously draw up the comforter edge.
Beneath the mattress,
beneath the sheets,
beneath the platform,
I see them and withdraw quickly.
They are there!
The demons,
the Daimos,
the creatures that scream in my nightmares.
Two of them, living in the dark, dankness under me.
I feel them watching, always

Premium MemberHide and seek

In the golden light of morning bright,
We gather, hearts aglow with delight,
Kids and grandkids all around,
Behind the drapes and corners of the house, off we’re bound.

We play a game of hide and seek,
Laughter fills the air, cheek to cheek,
Amongst the hiding places, kids' innocence

Today I’m thankful for rabbits…
I learned a valuable lesson from rabbits
when I was just a boy:
How to leap into each new adventure
with a blend of enthusiasm…and joy.

Premium MemberRABBIT WORLD

On my walk this morning, as usual, I stepped out of my world…
With the full moon lighting my way and cooled by a morning breeze
I stepped into the world of nature…of flowers, animals and trees.

I stepped into the world where rabbits live…and when I visit their world for a while
I have to admit…just like

Conejo Conejito Tango (Bunny Rabbit Tango)

The mesmerizing twilight dims
across a lake a warm breeze skims
Buck, the handsome rabbit drinks,
he has no doe; his love life stinks.
He stares at his reflection, sighs
when suddenly, his long ears rise
he hears a low, soft rustle near
he stands straight up, tries not to leer
but in the gloaming, gold and green
a

Premium MemberChef Rabbits Special Stew

Chef rabbit’s specialty was lovely, marvelous cabbage-carrot stew.
One year there was a drought, and he did not know what to do.
No cabbage anywhere around, okay, maybe he could scrounge up two.
He substituted lettuce, and it was tastier, on a scale, twenty-two.

Premium MemberThe Rabbits

Three Rabbits gather
Below the driveway
they sit and ponder
When to go inside
To search for their food

Three patches of plants
They eye the bushes
Two rabbits enjoying
Eating the new plants
They run off to hide
Until the next day

All the plants were new
The bushes were new
Now both plants and bushes
Look crooked and thin
They are ruined
By the three rabbits

Premium MemberI Flip Rabbits

He wanted to date Helga in the worst way.
She had heard nothing of him.
What do you do for a living? She asked him.
I flip rabbits.

What does that mean?
He showed her, flipping two out of his sack onto their heads.
They gave him mean looks and hopped off.
One of them was limping.

Is there a need for that?

Keeping Rabbits

Keeping rabbits

After the German army surrendered, life was tough
the army had employed many to do road work and
repairing bridges, the allies had bombed.
With freedom of movement to roam in the night
followed theft of food items like the man who
stormed into a bakery waving a rusty Mauser gun
stealing bread; the coal depot needed security
guards as did
