Premium MemberGrandma Cora Stared Me Down

my new quilt is made of hundreds of cats
grandmother quizzed me. Are you sure? Did you count them?
maybe fifty cats? I said.
grandma cora stared me down.
I was squirming now.
sixteen cats?
her face said that she knew better.
I took another stab at a count “maybe six cats?”
she asked me to hold up the quilt.
knowing when I fib, even if it is through video chat.
she has the knack!
probably because she practiced on my mommy.

Premium MemberSinging the Old Queen Cat Song

Old Queen Cat was a merry old Pole,
A merry old pole was she.
She called for her wipes and she called for her mole,
And she called for her diddlers three.

Hey wait! I thought a pole cat was…
Yes, I agreed, but have you met Ole Lady CatFuzz?
She is a tyrant who must always have her own way.
She has tricky techniques, she does not play.

Are you saying she’s a skunk? He quizzed me.
I dared not answer; wishing to remain unsullied and free.
Old Queen Cat had the whole palace bugged.
I did not relish being shackled, smacked or drugged.

I waited until I had arrived home
Before singing the Old Queen Cat song and poem
I’m talking said my snarly cousin Mr. James P. Pink.
Drat! I had been singing it next to the Queen’s biggest fink

What the Earth Says

I spoke to our atmosphere…
Asked it how things were going?
It’s not pleased with pollution
That man dumps in it daily.

Next, I spoke with our oceans…
They say plastic bottles and
Old fishing gear and garbage
Will destroy all life in them.

Then I quizzed Earth’s molten core…
It said it wasn’t happy
With what man does to this earth…
Count volcanic eruptions.

They all tell me that it’s time
Mankind comes to his senses
Before they band together…
Pay polluters back in kind.

Premium MemberForce, Gravity and Spirituality

Students of physics,
Conceited skeptics,
Quizzed and mocked a learned sage,
How planets influenced our fate?
Do the planets move around the Sun?
Or the Sun went around the earth?
The Sage replied
“We have no control of their course
Or fully understand their real force!
your life’s success does not depend on their orbits or how they move!
But it will make a difference
If you learn to show reverence
To your teachers and parents!
Heavenly objects can move as they choose
But if you don’t focus and wander loose
You will be pushed in a tangent course
And spend life with much remorse!
Do not worry about the Sun’s orbit
But understand
the gravity of your own situation
And Invest time in your education
And learn to pick your friends
So at least you are moving
always in the right circles!
Amen!

Premium MemberSarto Sorridente - Smiling Tailor

"Brioni ... or Armani?" quizzed the fitter,
For bolts and hems and lines were all his passion,
And though Italian food oft' left him bitter,
Their suits and leather set the height of fashion.

"Perhaps this Cucinelli suits you better?"
He eyed the gent and winking, pulled his measure,
"Ah, yes" said he, "it fits you to the letter!"
"And just your color, too - a woven treasure!"

When he was done, the fitter smiled in swagger,
The goodwill flowing through his shop like honey,
For as the patron's suit was priced to stagger,
Departing soon - his goodwill AND ... his money.

Silence

Sitting with an empty soul
Loneliness has filled her world
Life has stripped her naked
Broken emotions
Hidden thoughts
Blinded vision
Through ups and downs
Life has quizzed her

Put his new Margravine on his knee.
Bounced her soundly three times.
And then quizzed her with rhymes.

Premium MemberNo Luggage Space

the knock was heard twice
and liking questions he asked
'someone at the door?'

the sound came again
this time from somewhere closer
and he said 'hello?'

there was no answer
just another knock nearer
he quizzed 'the back stair?'

was it death he thought
holding a smile and dreaming
he asked 'friend or foe?'

came the voice 'neither
i am not of this world
'but another view'

'how well you did live
love and learn to let it go
is what matters most'

'not to me but you
because you are the luggage
nothing more to take'

Delusional Death

Another sleepless night,
wide awake I am
staring the light rays
from the lamp post beneath the blind

Its not about the caffeine I consumed
Its just my head
messed with thoughts

Quizzed with thousands of questions
My wilting ears are hearing things
I trapped in this weird illusion

A form of glitches
with a mere faces of lunatic demons
Mutilated bodies floating on a polluted pool,
A repetition of chant in a superstitious cult

Its already 3 in the morning
A sound of barking dogs
piercing through my ears
Adding up the mess

I beg God
To put an end to this
Its worsening
Im wondering
When will it end

I know it will , soon
Yes it will

I could see the creature
Blocking the light rays

Im pretty sure my last sight was
a wide grin of The Ripper.

Every Day

Somehow I wake
and test every day’s resolve
To implant a view in me of a rising sun
and a moon that swims quietly alongside
So shadows can spread
and it can state its resilient case
Quietly
I ponder the case of life
Its persistent quest to quell protest
And derive a quizzy thought
from mundane efforts to exist
And ask why we cloud in mystery
this endless dance to spell a trance
and call tomorrow new

It shines the evil of man
And the hesitant flowery question of life
That turns sprightly
and leaves all answers unheard
It turned my loves around
till my heart quizzed me blind
A testy anguish later
it cried and left me a note

That it must leave my world
and craft a new forbidden love
while I twist a storm
into hope
that grows every day I wake
