There once was a great white
Who was looking for a bite
And there was a seashore town
That had smiles instead of a frown
Preparing for a 100 year celebration
With wind surfing racing
It took a whole year of work
And the great white brought a knife and a fork
Towns people started to disappear
And there was something out to fear
Politician Wells who had money to spend
And put up a nice plan that would be strong enough to defend
Off the wind surfers did go
With the shark wanting to feed on the show
They got through the netting
then proceeded to do some upsetting
All this mess
Nearly made rich man Wells confess
But he never shook in his boots
Until his whirly bird went kapootz
With a television reporter getting out of hand
it was up to the author to take a stand
With Vic Morrow who was on loan or borrow
Played the Quint style for awhile
The writer ended up the Captain Brody fighter
As they went fishing with chum that they were dishing
The action in independent film was not missing
It all ended very fast with a nice blast
While the author threw the punch
Before taking his golden girl out to lunch

Autumn arrives, its breath a cool breeze.
Birds forming echelons travel the sky.
Sunlight bedazzles the bright leaves of trees.
Poets like me may be prone to sigh,
wistfully bidding the summer goodbye.

Every time
I get in the water
That scene from Jaws
Comes to mind
The shark devouring Quint.

Mint, peppermint, Cool Mint, badminton. . . .
But that's not what I meant.
You still don't know what I meant?
Then I'll give you a hint.
There's a famous guy named Clint.
Yes, his family name is Eastwood.
As an actor, he's sharp as a flint.
He always wears a shirt with a nice tint.
He hates to drive a car with a dint.
He once wrote a book that never got out of print.
He once daydreamed of being a quint.
He's diligent, he always works without a stint.
"Go ahead, make my day!"
says he, with his eyes shining with a glint.
So tidy is he, well-dressed is he,
without a single loose piece of lint.
Never did he do that, no he didn't.
So said he, with his trademark squint.
But he's not learned enough to be able to read a Septuagint.
Once he broke his leg, and they had to put it into a splint.

A poet's contest with a twist
Use the words in this long list
Author's puzzle - mental schism
Solved by quoting pearls of wisdom
Writing verse with rough iambi
Valentines the namby-pamby
Sugar cane is often bitter
Sweet instead banana fritter
Shellfish debt is right to fear
Mollusc IOUs are dear
In winter cess or gong will ice
Come the spring it won't smell nice
Those who talk soliloquies
Centralistic - ill at ease
Mostly truth - a bit of flam
Buoyant spirits just a scam
Olive stuffed with pepper sweet
Pimola - shun a tasty treat
Broken clock might go tic tac
Til ending life upon the scrap
Peer at life - myopic squint
Essence lost - the meerest hint
I've met the task - I've got all ten
By breaking words up now and then
Spelling strange and meaning hookie
Least they could be fortune cookies
Entry for "ten word challenge - 2" contest
Uses words (sort of): AMBIVALENT, ARCANE, BITTERSWEET, LUSCIOUS, INTERCESSOR, QUIESCENT, FLAMBOYANT, IMMOLATION, TACTILE, QUINTESSENCE

It's been said that he killed a man for every year of his life.
That would make his total about twenty one,
but nine would be a more accurate number
according to historical documentation.
Although he killed he was not what you'd call a wanton killer outlaw.
If given a choice not to kill, that would have been his choice for sure.
He killed in self defense, he killed in an act of war,
he killed in the line of duty and then he killed once more.
He killed to escape his execution.
In all honesty,
I would have killed just like he
if I were in the same situation.
Billy the Kid wasn't your quint essential classic killer outlaw.
A poor victim of circumstance is what would describe Billy the Kid's life more.

This old sea-rig is swamped and don't float
I TOLD you we'd need a bigger boat!
Now you are HIS prize
Sure ain't no surprise
That you're fish-food, you hard-headed goat!
