Did We Exist Before We Were Born

Did I exist before I came—
To Time’s reluctant Door—
Or was I but a voiceless Name—
In Silence—evermore?

The cradle of a Nothing vast—
Where neither Breath nor Form—
No Heart to quicken—nor to fast—
No Memory—to warm.

Yet here—I stand—amid the Grass—
The Moon—observes my stay—
She lifts her Lantern as I pass—
And will—when I—decay.

If Death returns me to that Place—
That hollow, unbegun—
I must bestow—while in the Race—
Some kindness—til it’s done.

Compassion—like a secret Fire—
Illumes the darkened air—
Empathy—becomes the Choir—
Where none—may yet Despair.

The Sky receives my trembling Word—
It vanishes—like Rain—
But Love once uttered—will be heard—
Beyond the mortal Plain.

So let me weigh my brief Estate—
As Stars record my Breath—
And make my Living adequate—
To justify my Death.

"Open the gates of Heaven's beginning
Where we end thoughts of awful sinning
Where hope and love will be forever
And think of troubles no more, never!"
                                      ~ Anonymous

Death creeps in, leaving everyone grief-stricken,
Waiting for the day when dear souls will quicken,
Life connection is like a gossamer thread,
The macabre grave summons those who are dead;
Grieving and groaning, we give them a send-off
To the gates of heaven where they'll always laugh,
This ghostly anguish that rends the broken soul
When a loved one dies is beyond our control,
We feel godforsaken, but forget to grasp ~
They are in a better place in God's own clasp.
Heaven's golden gate is always open wide
To guide the godly souls as they glide inside.

And behold,this day
I am going the way of all the earth
And you know in all your hearts, and in your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you.
All are come to pass unto you and not one thing hath failed thee and of!

How do I compare to you, God
What is the scent of my desire
that the golden globes you trod
that the grandeur of the celestial choir
to quicken yet the voids 'neath this sod
oblige your condescension into Hellfire

Unshaken, Unchained

A voice that sharpens in debate’s embrace,
Feet that once danced now quicken the chase.
Pages and gavels, the world's in my hands,
Bound by the law but free where I stand.
Dreaming of justice, unshaken, unchained.

“Dead leaves do not cease to exist. They live in another form, may be as nutrient to quicken another life. That way, every death is a doorway to another life”. ~ By Poet

Last leaves of the ancient maple, yellowed and frayed,
Fluttering and dancing silently in mellowed stillness,
Nose dived into the burnt sienna ground below,
To become fodder for the saplings of spring.

Life and Death with Strangers

Mother, father, you are the strange migrants who arrived before me, I see you moving away, for no home anywhere could complete us all, and strangely, now I am before you. Sister, brother, child, we never did know which way to go,
or from where we arrived from. A family history is no more nor less than a parable told to a raindrop, a poem written by the flashing rays of the sun. Familial lineage but a carnival carrousel spun by spawning glimmers in a hermit's cave.

As for lovers, they die before our eyes and are born again as other strangers. Love is the forever unknowable, and yet it knows us, it is the stranger who knows the stranger. Love holds a mirror up to an ever-changing sky and demands that our view in that looking glass stay the same, even though that sameness, is but a Mayfly in a thunderstorm. Eventually, eyes must quicken to see beyond the lightning bugs, humans have to get along with our alienness, even as we are born to quickly die before our eyes.

The Quiet Battle

When I speak about the monster,
I speak of the trauma and the pain.
He feeds upon the bones and flesh,
And so, you won’t survive.

He lurks in the shadows
And comes out at midnight.
When your thoughts quicken your heartbeat,
He is a devil in disguise.

First, he lures you into his grand plans,
With late-night conversations with yourself.
Then, he bites the hand that feeds him,
Leaving you numb, with no will to survive.

Refuge

Darkness surrounds me.
No moon or stars to guide me.
I am lost with no hope.
The path is narrow and the journey long.
Perils and predators lurk in the black forest.
In the midst of my gloom, I stumble into a clearing.
A warm light beckons me.
A comfortable cabin awaits me.
My steps quicken to reach the door.
A rush of restored hope wells up within me.
I am safe at last.

How slight
The petal of
A poppy,flowering-
So much like us,beautiful,yet
Fragile

Hurry
Takes its toll as
In our daily stroll,we
From deepest ruts of blind alleys
Quicken

Beauty
free from above
embedded in our heart-
His loving-kindness ..ready to
impart

The warmth
Of love's invite
Encompassed my desire,
In two soft whispered words of love,
Be mine !

Eyes closed
As lips caressed,
Mouths joined,impassioned
Tongues explore,in our love's embrace,
Time-framed

My love
Beguiled me,with
Soft sensuous lips,sleek
Long thighs with rounded hips, twinned heart's
Enlaced

Long days
Of August sun
Where nature blinks and shrinks
The dying grass,yellowed in sleep-
Held fast

Night chills
the aging bones-
blowing on the east wind
flurries fine and dry settle on
new graves.

These be
the keys to life,
faith,hope and agape,
love, the greatest gift of all three-
to thee !

Desire
welled within-
words became a promise
so sublime,to love now and for
all time.

We had
met and conversed,
a rapport on first sight-
a chance meeting to a life's time
delight

Me and my chicken
Won't take a lickin'
Whenever he crows
Everyone knows it's
Me and my chicken.

Me and my chicken
Our hearts are tickin'
Cluckin' and pickin'
Here in the thicken
We keep on kickin'

Me and my chicken
Rooster and wiccan
You be awestricken
Your heart will quicken
For me and my chicken.

Premium MemberTRUTH UPHOLDING MY BEING

Truth* upholds my being and becoming
anchored upon God Almighty, the Source of truth
instructing me to walk on paths of righteousness with love
directing my heart toward trusting His divine precepts against doubt…
With sublime truth, my faith lives
buttressed by inspired precious Scriptures that constantly quicken my soul
reviving my spirit to rejoice in His bestowed eternal salvation
securing me throughout eternity, assuring triumph midst pardon of sins…
Tenaciously standing for truth instilled in my belief
I continue to share the Gospel
propelled by the redemptive transformative power of the Lord
with earnest prayer and blissed zeal for its fruitful propagation…
Such is my fervent desire with gratitude
since my all is nothing without God’s truth.

'Small inequities magnified by intervening vapors'
  ...... Lydia Davis

Ah learning how to walk again

Triumphant statues
Erectus victorious

           while

Cicadas whine as children die

                  in Calmouk

Camels give milk distilled to
             dizzying confusion

Headlights approach

          "crumble ye tyrants --
            may there be nothing
            in your way"

Eyes glaze as centuries quicken

                       chants

Echoed by the Anunnaki
Travelers from Ethiopian art

As Sumerian Scholars

Scream from ancient tablets

                       lost

          In the land of Shinar

Resilience

I’m so proud to be happy
because I never waited
for life’s thunderstorms
to pass

I have smiled
beneath torrential rains
sharp flashes of lightning
with skies miserably overcast

I did not wait
upon a friendly summer evening
where every cloud had travelled past my view
to rejoice or to rest

I have learned to seek solace
without a single star in the sky
in cruel cold and exhausting heat
my breath does not quicken

I am content because sorrow is familiar
like the house which I’ve slept my whole life inside
my fragmented spirit was never mended
with a show of sunshine

Premium MemberBYE FOR NOW

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
        Psalm 116:15

Though we will surely miss you, Ma'am Edna
We trust God Who knows what’s best
Trusting Him --- the Source of breath
Who can quicken soul toward salvation eternally.

In our grief because of your departure
We have faith in the Saviour Who is the Author of life
Relying on Him --- the good Shepherd
Who leads you toward heaven of everlasting joy.

Bye for now, dear friend and sister in Christ...
We have with us your vibrant memories, exuding your optimism
Never will we bury in oblivion as we keep on reminiscing our partnership
Thanking the Creator for your living testimony we surely cherish.

Having you, an example of faithfulness as servant of the Lord
We abide in His assurance along His approval’s nod
Knowing that you did run the race well, conquering illness
Your faith continues to inspire our hearts toward triumphant reaching-out.
