she changed
No, she grew
she learned
she earned
she healed
she understood
she chose herself
she set boundaries
she prioritized herself
she stopped explaining
she stopped chasing
she embraced solitude
she honored her truth
she reclaimed her voice
she softened and stayed strong
she loved herself loudly
she became her own home.
"Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim."

To live bound by “integrity”, where rectitude derides you? It’s starkly accustomed. I enrooted, enclosed by academics--the desolate nature of my sentience consuming my interior. Nether perfection defenestrates my subsequent--and I’m so damn tired. Extort my studies till blood seeps via my retinas, weave my pencil till the anathematic led ruptures; a mere standard in our education. Sacrifice my youth as to my future, conglomerate extracurriculars till my collapse, lay none betwixt within life and school; label it as a system. Shut up, shut up all of you! My exertion incapable of being compensated for—silence, silence, all of you! Toil seldom for me, subsequently bequeathing my labor… Discard my passion, coerce me to fill the perforated gaps in tuition—quiet, quiet, all of you! Refrain from protesting till your own encounter, and perpetually weep!
Shut up, all of you
My future prioritized
Discard my own youth

An impotent soul wrapped with a police seal
Married a merchant and stopped bearing Jill
everyone must care, that’s how it feels
traps of superiority placed like banana pills
mutual respect losing every match five-to-nil
demanding the showering of majestic praises so unreal
that are schemed and manufactured from a rusted mill
to cover a void that can never be filled.
Confidence owns worth for self-respect and exaggeration to steal
me, myself and I, makeup the three-square-meal
ego prioritized, a major condition in every deal
insisting that the screws are not as important as the wheel.
It is always said that blessed are they who climb the hill
but they look down the foot of the mountain to see ants worthy of a kill
despite the accolades, undermining others is their zeal
loud on the success, louder on the associated vigils
winning comes with feathers, before eating the meat, you must peel
or else, there will be a heavy mention on destruction’s will.

Months have passed by since I last saw you,
I cannot still forget the worrying eyes that you had on that night,
leaving me thought, that we weren't okay but,
I still disregarded it because you seemed to be okay,
I wanted to apologize for setting aside the real problem that we had
and wish I could turn back the time to correct my approach and make things right for us, but this time I will make sure that your personal space will be prioritized.

Sit with us!
Have lunch with us!
They are eager for me to sit in the teacher's lounge.
I rarely want to, so I rarely do.
All because of Curly Sue.
Lunch conversation is completely monopolized.
By this spoiled girl who was cannonized.
By parents who forever pushed her to position prioritized.
Her thoughts and ideas are often by them glorifi-zed.

Is PEACE the absence of war?
Is war the absence of PEACE?
Where is PEACE to be found?
PEACE was the Garden of Eden before
the fall of man. PEACE is a state
of being where nothing is broken
and nothing is missing. Where our
yesterdays are in a state of appreciation,
and every tomorrow remains an anticipation.
Where our minds make room for imagination.
Where we have come to realize that our wants
are to be wisely delayed or put on hold, and our
needs are highly prioritized. In a very real sense,
we do not find PEACE. PEACE awaits those wanting
to be found. PEACE finds US because WE are lost.

Sloth has the officer serving us
Quick to offer a pet reply
Because he finds the job tedious:
"Your need we are unable to supply."
Sloth has a pet answer for failure:
Oh, I am sorry, I forgot."
It's true forgetting is part of nature
But it's lousy when it's pet.
Sloth has the accounting man surprised
When the populace is up in arms
When their needs aren't prioritized.
Now there are sirens and alarms!
Sloth takes the country many years back,
Losing money by the millions
Due to handling by the slack
Who need ages to make decisions!

It hurts
Yes it hurts
The pain stings
This is beyond heartbreak
This is deeper than heartbreak
Yes it hurts
It hurts...a lot!
To see you in another man's arms
Giggling
Smiling
Laughing
And doing everything
You used to do with me
Just the way you do them with me
I prioritized you above all else
Unknown to me that you actually belong to someone else
Truly, life is not balanced
Obviously the new man is not new
I was the one that just never knew

dream big ENOUGH.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, Rage, Rage across the dying light.
The marksman at their end still far beyond their sight.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
The fantasy deceives, stars move to and fro.
The left is right, the mirth is fright.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
The false ones kept aside, for the truth should be.
The negatives prioritized, the negatives flee.
Dreams do come true, for when the meagre height.
Do not go gentle into that good night.

marginalized
again
just a widow
whose family is grown
no longer a central figure
overlooked
forgotten
until something
is expected from me
then parameters shift
I am needed, anticipated
counted on for help
until that window in time
passes
then
marginalized
once more
prioritized
off the grid
of life
~
is it any wonder
I gravitate
to the one who supports me
appreciates me
listens
with his heart

What is the measure of a good man unless it is seen through the eyes of reality
That you can't please everyone but you must do everything to please the ones you want to keep
That sometimes to be good is to be selfish for your own
That to be good you must sacrifice the needs of someone you don't need
If everyone favours you then you are fake
If you've never had to cut them off then you are flawed
If you've never prioritized someone over another because you realised you'd rather lose them than someone else then you are ignorant to the truth
That you can't have them all
To love is to sacrifice
To sacrifice is a good man's deed

Afternoon Hiatus
Counting footsteps at dapper dawn’s increased insistence
As flurries of minutes in perpetual movement binds hands
To a spinning roulette of prioritized importance
Motivating motives of revelations demand admittance
And attention’s effervescent energy
Like the ordered notes in a music box rebellion
That winds down when solitary sol begins to slide
Past the apex of day’s light that tumbles
Toward the waiting, wandering, sea’s vertical vortex
In long beams touching yawning midafternoon
Begging the tattered taskmaster time
Sit down!
Be still!
In china cups from time before
Savor the pearls of tawny topaz perfume
Carried from exotic mountain slopes
Amber ambrosia steeped in afternoons long passed
To pause
Pushing back on the tempo of time’s insistent intervals -
To disconnect in soaring sighs
Of an afternoon holiday in hiatus.

not easily dissuaded
but recently persuaded
to oscillate in ways
living my lingering days
all bets are off
often I have scoffed
demeaning my demise
postponing I trivialize
I have a list to ask
prioritized by task
listings I'll conceive
or perhaps believe
would homelessness set me free
reality does not deceive
or should I ponder yonder
while continuing to wander
the bucket I shall kick it
for my Savior is the ticket
it’s become clear to me
it's Glory I need to see

We have friends
Close with
Still communicating
Thinking they are forever there
In the moments to come
Talking about random things
Going deep in our souls
Doing everything
Being there
For each other
Hopefully for a lifetime
The thing is
There is no control
For all of them to stay
Being initiative
To understand
To look at the same picture
Sad reality check
We may have been prioritized
Saved as favourites and not
What vulgar words to state
For friendship
They look kind
But their actions say otherwise
Stabbing us
Asking us whether we are ok
We wanna so hard
To give reasons of the doubt
They will change
Just a phase
But what is allowed
Will be continue
Snowball till it is too much for us
Being taken advantaged
Sucking up dry
Ending up
Like a floormat
To be stepped on
Do not try anymore
Let go
Walk away
Leave some places
For someone
Who are worth to be called
A friend...

On the road - a possum family
all quickly slaughtered together.
There is something about their crushed bodies
strewn according to size and age as they are.
The whole family pretending to be dead,
even now in deaths squash
still seeking inconspicuousness.
I recall those monochrome pictures
of holocaust atrocities.
The thin bodies, little bodies.
The prioritized scattering,
as if the placement of last moments
were deaths final pose.
While we the living, are invisible
as we swerve to avoid them -
driving quickly away.
