SILENCE

To live bound by “integrity”, where rectitude derides you? It’s starkly accustomed. I enrooted, enclosed by academics--the desolate nature of my sentience consuming my interior. Nether perfection defenestrates my subsequent--and I’m so damn tired. Extort my studies till blood seeps via my retinas, weave my pencil till the anathematic led ruptures; a mere standard in our education. Sacrifice my youth as to my future, conglomerate extracurriculars till my collapse, lay none betwixt within life and school; label it as a system. Shut up, shut up all of you! My exertion incapable of being compensated for—silence, silence, all of you! Toil seldom for me, subsequently bequeathing my labor… Discard my passion, coerce me to fill the perforated gaps in tuition—quiet, quiet, all of you! Refrain from protesting till your own encounter, and perpetually weep!
Shut up, all of you My future prioritized Discard my own youth

Dear Reya, A very heartfelt and sincerely expressed haibun, so well written and delivered! Tomorrow is my sons first day of exams and i can understand and feel the pressure, it is alot to take as society expects too much, etc. and keeping up can be challenging and overwhelming! Glad you found time to express through poetry as always, in such a moving manner! I love the haiku at the end! Made me smile how youv said “ SU” true! Haha best wishes always! Reya, your poem explores the intense pressures and sacrifices associated with academic life and societal expectations. It delves into the emotional toll that the relentless pursuit of success and integrity can exert on an individual, particularly in an educational context. Wonderful Haibun

Haha! Got the school exam blues? Not sure if you're in high school or college but I think we've all been frustrated at times. Hang in there

It's not just blues; I'm having to sacrifice extracurriculars I love, just to study. I do so much work, yet I'm simply average. I don't know where you are, but I've had people taking calculus BC when they were 13; a course most people take in COLLEGE. Everyone here is academically gifted, and just to keep up, we all have to work our brains out. I'm gonna hang in there. The education system is NOT going down without me.

Interesting lines penned. Elementary ed is supposed to teach the very basics plus introduce so many topics that a person might want to pursue which does seem like way too much for most people. Sara K
