Premium MemberOh, Joy! At the Night Sky

Oh, joy! at the night sky
And the wonder it declares.
How flirtatious! How they flare –
The many stars on high!

There's Castor and Pollux
And Rigel and Betelgeuse
And look! – Aldebaran bids adiós
As he swaggers west.

Premium MemberUnder a Blue Moon

Reaching out to you, at speed of light
so you may find me on common ground,
among the trees
a gentleman, though strange to your ears.

Under a lamplit room, one full of sky
oh, though my eyes look down,
not worldly as you may think
uninjured, and uninjuring
just the same as you.

Yes, it's you, my words were bent to
past the zenith, straight to a future
beating heart, all yours.
Reach back to me with fingers
made to extend, a hero mine..
with soft lips.

Pollux begged for the life of a twin,
under the latin sign of Gemini
and the same now
I beg of Zeus.

Stand under a future blue moon,
w'luck, I'll be there too..
though the coursing in my veins
hides your name today,
I'll discover it soon.

Castor and Pollux smiled down on earth
Aware of their constellation status.
Pollux loving it.
Castor still pouting about being mortal.

Premium MemberWhy Are There Stars

When once I pondered whence came the stars
With baited breath and rapid pulse
I let my spirit loose to fly
To the source of my concern.

Pollux was first to welcome my quest
And I shouted, “Why are there stars?”
“A dragon’s sneeze, with blazing glow
Birthed my neighbor and myself.”

“Why are there stars?” of Altair I asked.
 He grudgingly barked a reply.
“Methuselah’s birthday candles
Blew embers strewn heavenward!”

With spirit weary, I ventured on
With many more stars left to source.
“Why are there stars?” was my anthem
Until fully satisfied.

Vega had to hold back a giggle
When faced with my inquiry
“Atalanta now wears Nike’s
Cleats poking holes to the gods.”

With one more cluster to hit I flew
“Why are there stars” my only words
But never in my pondering
Could I picture what was said.

“When your father passed ten years ago
He obsessed of your fear of dark.
He never rests, or takes a break
But hangs nightlights for your peace.”

Poem
Lionel Derbyshire

O scratchy ear
Why you itch
Is someone near ?
I am just sitting down
Looking at a tile
Which is plastered down
On a floor
With an empty soul.
I contemplate
With frightly expectations.
No thing is guaranteed.
I hear scandal
Lip's are describing me
Heartly tearing me
Their word's are not dear
Tearing right down to the bone.
They myth and they lie
Festering my flesh.
Their knives are long
Castor could be right ..
Pollux could be wrong
Bright stars dim me light
Gemini's out of sight
Their justice talking
Music to my ears ?
Or lyrical decadence
What is the difference ..
In their deceit
There to amuse
Their lie's of me.
Their bugs don't hurt
They stab in my back
Right into my pride.
Word's sorely heard.

Pollux and Castor

Pollux,

Your spring is at the cross-road with my summer,
Like wanderers we met each other on the way -
We are like shining stars, which, somewhere,
in space of Gemini are lit up for a play.

A feast of greenery here lies below us.
You gently touch a dandelion with your lips.
Around us stands the yellow world of flowers,
you taste the nectar with your tongue’s tip.

Conception of new feelings by the cosmic dust
of deep blue dragon, with the sparkling scale.
Red snake of yours will give a birth to lust.
Let there be expectation of a fairy tale.

Conversations With the Moon.

Sometimes I want to suckle at your white breast
And drink your milk of delicious tenderness
While lips to lips embraced we tremble in the wind
Desire is nothing to be lost, love is all to win.

Sometimes I want to put my head against the fold
Of your bosom and the blanket of your dress
Sheltering you from the rugged night's sultry cold
That stare at my flaccid hope of nakedness.

Sometimes when my soul ravaged by its memories
Fragrance of your body blows from afar
Through tender vines of tawny turbulent histories
You cannot know my pulsar and my star

While you wile and wander around the wanton earth
In frivolous mirth. I did not want the dry
Bed of oceans for ships of dreams to sail. A desert
Heart cries too without the rain. Hence the sigh

When I thought how mythical is all beauty, all truth,
The Castor and Pollux of ramantic vision!
For there was no other man on your breast, but refute
Came late, dear moon, after the Apollo mission.
