Home should be bliss, a place we can rise
to awaken each day with clearer eyes.
A structure, a room or arms wrapped around
someone who's heart calms beyond bounds.
Home can be anything that speaks to your soul,
a safe place to go to with no usual role.
A haven to allow yourself to be you,
no guards enclosing, only grand views.
Undress your alter ego that you put on
for the others.
Naked and raw you can walk uncovered
not smothered.
Lay your head on my shoulder,
rest until you sleep.
Inhale my body scent
dream until you weep.
Home is where you feel at ease
and your heart hears love.
Home is nothing but a place
fitting like a baseball glove.
The place where I desire to roam
Lies just of the African coast
The Canaries is where I desire
It's where my heart will rejoice the most
My life in Scotland is through
It's time for my soul to move on
To Tenerife or Lanzarote
A new country is where I'll belong
For my heart has been bruised and battered
Left out in the cold for many a year
Frozen to the point of no return
Reigniting was always a fear
For it doesn't happen every day
Meeting someone with like's, like I
And to look into Spanish brown eyes
If you'd witnessed, you'll understand why
Then came the day it all changed
It was like looking through the looking glass
My eyes met these Spanish brown orbs
The most beautiful looking lass
With a smile to delight any looker
Her personality sure lures me in
For her music taste I so noted
Like the hairs always rise on my skin
For the place I desire to roam
Lies just of the African coast
The Canaries is where I will stay
Many years in love I will so toast

I left my heart in Minnesota
Where the tea goes cold with every passing second.
I left my love to the bare bougainvillea and
A willow tree beyond a vacant road.
I left a skillful lover whose skin turned
Cold throughout our sleepless nights.
I left my open mind in a rundown cinema,
Trodden with trash and the homeless.
Using heart and hands,
I caught a sallow fish with
Fins like ash and eyes like fire.
He left me for some quiet whore
Whose name he'd never know,
On a cluttered frozen alley way
Somewhere, some time ago.
I left my heart to Minnesota
And again I've left a lover.
