Tasty newcomer, taco pizza is found only one place in our town
Once discovered, many of our teenagers ran there on Friday nights
Their tag-along-younger-brothers-and-sisters watched the cooks
Through a pass through window, which had them exaggerating efforts
We could smell them before they came out of the oven
Golden brown and piping hot. The cooks sprinkled them with cheeses,
And bits of freshly cut lettuce, tomatoes, and we salivated, waiting
Like dogs who had not been fed from Monday to Thursday
Our town is small; we were lucky to get one pizza parlor; we had two.
They both closed their doors, because the teens stopped going
They could not compete with the prizes at the gas station,
Which was also the only place we could purchase a taco pizza.
I was advised that walking is healthy and good for the heart
So with new walking shoes, I figured that was a good start
I walk here, I walk there, I walk the hell everywhere
I stroll to many new places; I do say I walk with flair
I walked to the donut shop, oh what a pleasure
I walked to the pizza parlor, and tasted a slice
I walked to the local Chocolatier, and tasted many a delight
On to the liquor store, for a bottle or two
I walked up with the drunks, lined in a queue
The ice cream shop down the street, yes I walked there too
Double scoops I had, with whipped cream on top
I walked to the Burger place, their fries so so yummy
Walking home, there was the coffee shop!!!, with pastries for me tummy
Walking is wonderful, and good for the heart
But let me tell you
Tomorrow
I am driving to the gym
Notes: Well I cant always write dark depressing poems! This was inspired by dinner at friends, and a great conversation over a bottle of wine, and for those with a wicked twisted sense of humor there is a secret not so poetic part 2 to this!!!!! You need to request!! :)
I fell for you at first sight
When we dance together all night
The old school gym had seen better days
As we swayed through clouds in a lovers gaze
The first date night I held you tight
Zombies were a fright, the movie was just right
We held hands as we walked slowly home
Somehow I knew I was never again alone
Our favorite pizza parlor just a whole in the wall
You would order just a slice and never eat it all
The city park where we would feed the ducks
You pushed me in the lake but it was fun making up
The drives into the country never seem to last
Somehow we always managed to run out of gas
Sitting in church thinking naughty thoughts
Wondering if our eyes would get us caught
Watching our favorite TV shows in the den
Somehow we never got to see how they end
Memories we share so many places we have been
But it is the simple ones we treasure in
Places I enjoy are the ones with you
Places that make me smile I shared with you
When times have us being apart
The one place I keep you is in my heart.
PIZZA
“Momma Mia”
Name of a pizza parlor
No bowling alleys
No pool tables
Just pizza
“We don’t deliver”
Sign above the counter
These old white tables
Checkered table cloths cover the dents
Wobbly white chairs
Joe Biscarelli
Owner of Momma Mia
Joe don’t say much
Let’s pizza speak for itself
Maria Biscarelli
Joe’s wife
Momma Mia pizza is terrible
Joe don’t care
Maria don’t give a damn
Hey! You don’t like Momma Mia pizza?
You ever hear of the Don – Luigi Biscarelli?
Thatsa Joe’s brother
You don’t like the pizza?
Betta shutta you mouth!
That summer day was cooling down just right
We kind of borrowed his dad's custom van
But Rick didn't care he said " it's Friday night"
He punched the gas and headed for Jackson
Determined to party, we had beer on ice
The sun went down just when we got to Main
A quarter mile long, so we ran it twice
Nothing going on, this was getting lame
He swung the van around with a big moan
Cranked up the stereo and yawned real wide
Two girls were standing there at the pay phone
We never did stop, I yelled "want a ride"
Someone did said something, so we backed up
We ended up talking about a double date
The pizza parlor across the street, duh
And just thirty minutes later, well we were late
Pam had this gorgeous sun bleached golden hair
Maria was.. Maria was perfect for Rick
We took off for just about anywhere
The lookout point seemed to do the trick
The love that grew between us was so strong
We got married in Jackson, my Mom's plan
I'm a grandpa now, just where I belong
Late, but he did make it, Rick my best man
