Phoenixes Poems

Premium MemberTRADITIONS CHANGE AGAIN

I took our annual Christmas family portrait yesterday…
as usual it was a time of jubilation…
and once again I noticed we’re a family
in a state of transformation.

We’ve all grown another year older
but it really is much more…
for none of us are the exact same person
we were the year before…

School and jobs and life in general
alter us a little every day….
This portrait shows us face-timing
with the three of our family members who’ve moved away.

We couldn’t all get together this Christmas
which is why we had to Zoom…
but their laughter and their love…even in two dimensions
found their way into the room .

As our family has grown and changed…as all families do
the traditions we make along the way…must change a little too.

As we find new ways to get together…before we know it…lo and behold
new traditions like phoenixes….emerge from out the old.

As I looked at my family through the camera
as they all came into view…
I realized what’s important isn’t how we get together…
what’s important…is that we do.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

The Men In Suits

The men in suits
Light a fire

They pretend to be enemies
Though they really are the best of friends

Every move, watching the world,
Burn to flames

Public protests for garbage, whilst
Many are killed, destroyed, silenced
Criminals live in wonderland
Innocents are framed

Candles burn but like phoenixes, rebirthing from melted wax,
This world is burning, but nothing melts

Premium MemberOf Blue Eggs

Eggs of Blue, spring is upon us Turdidae
Of that first clutch, how many will you lay?
Aspiring from your chest a Phoenixes display
Odds are twenty-four months before they decay
But those who survive that first fateful years foray
For five or six years their spring songs will play

Precepts of the Aegis-Holder

"Precepts of the Aegis-Holder"

no gorgons here
but 3 of one, yes?
shields raise
back the dead
to life

and phoenix
from the ashes
spreads its burning wings
feathers of blue
now gold, tra-la notes,

messages burning
rising upwards, it sings

and the hounds noble
stand their ground
under tree of life
the wisdom drops from leaves
like tears, black pearls

in for a penny,
in for a pound

what say you?
to the manor born?, or
light of life?, by now
it does not matter
for all is found, surely,

in each
the other

"A chattering crow lives out nine generations of aged men,
but a stag's life is four time a crow's,
and a raven's life makes three stags old,
while the phoenix outlives nine ravens,
but we, the rich-haired Nymphs
daughters of Zeus the aegis-holder,
outlive ten phoenixes"

Premium MemberPositivity Optimism Prayer and Meditation

Positivity Optimism Prayer and Meditation
Positivity has a wide-open arena in which to execute miracles
When we learn this, we will be able to spin our life into gold
We will be able to fly without wings, when we embrace our truth.

Loving optimism is knocking on our heart, requesting entrance.
When we embrace her, our lives will change for the best.
We can accomplish things faster and in incredible ways.

Prayer opens the highways of life wide open, giving our engines fuel.
Meditation enlists our spiritual self, allowing us to explore our dreams.
When we let God, we begin to return like phoenixes to our soul self.

Parade

He is coming again. I can always feel when he is on his way because my heart starts to race and I feel the fear.
The fear of soldiers busting in.
People being murdered by clowns
while I dance like the Joker in a
Green man suit.
Fear of the outside world betraying me
With it's reality while my clock stops and laughs at me. I start to shake and he knows I am struggling.
My stomach knots and a wave of sheer terror has an axe in my door.
Music throws confetti at me and the hair on my arm makes me breathe funny.
I think I might get sick.
I reach for the wastebasket but my arm is stuck in the wall.
My emotions escape me except the fear who sits like a parrot on my arm tangled in the hair. Today is tomorrow and yesterday is next week.
Life is grinding to a halt inside a house that is not mine. Someone else lays in my bed and pretends to be me.
It is him and he is wearing Joaquin Phoenixes head.
This has to stop.
It needs to be fixed.
I put on my green man suit and crawl into my arm hair and wait for the end.
It never comes but it's morning and
It starts again.

Premium MemberSpiritual Phoenixes

The human species is quite resilient,
having been around for centuries;
our souls, living and learning through
trial and error; it’s the way we grow.
Mistakes, failure are our teachers,
gleaning from them we matriculate
and like the phoenix rising from the ashes,
we become wiser, evolving to new heights.
Never fear the failures for they are
lifetime guides for our souls; we are
spiritual phoenixes.

Notes of a Graying Rock and Roll Fan

I remember the Beatles
   and the first
time I heard
  Sergeant Pepper's
I remember the Doors
   and associate them
with my sexual awakening
The Association, the Turtles and the Happenings
   made such sweet harmonies
I have now expanded my tastes
and listen to classical, folk, jazz and standards
    But I associate the
power of rock and roll
   with youthful energy
   My keyboard and harmonica standing
in my apartment stand as a testament
 to my taste
I lay back and listen to the radio tonight
"Another Saturday Night and I ain't got nobody"
There is a song for every mood if you look for it
There is even a recording called "Too Old to Rock and Roll -
Too Young to Die"
The years will have their say
And all songs come to an end
But like phoenixes
   we rise each day
With a song in your heart
   you can't go wrong
Anyone out here want to join me in song?

Mourning Commute

Mourning Commute

would be phoenixes
masquerade in Gotham
snowbirds alighting
outrunning the cock's crow
leaving their respective nests
cold
huddled in subterranean tunnels
awaiting the next iron worm
three piece sardines
breaststroking up steam
in relentless pursuit of false promises

From the Flames

We are the Phoenix, proud and strong.
Always finding a place to belong.
Even when you think we're down and out.
We'll rise again, without a doubt!

Soar with the Phoenix into the sky.
Allow your Spirit to forever fly!
The Phoenixes flight will give you hope.
Your daily battles with which to cope!

Out of the ashes we begin anew.
Seeing the world from a different view.
From the flames we'll forever rise.
While others merely gaze in surprise!

Never again the burning times we'll endure.
Of this fact you'd best be sure!
We're here to last forever long.
Raising our voices in chants and song!

Extinction

Everything that is created one day becomes extinct with His manifestation.
For billions and millions of years forests, rivers, valleys, mountains and civilisations,
Completed a cycle, suffered a long periodic destruction and depredation.
Animals and birds became extinct for new phoenixes to be born as per His ordination.

Time and energy cannot be destroyed, they can only be transformed to enter
Into the sunken seeds under sod, and a Noah to render life on this planet once again.
Material world periodically becomes barren and devastated like hibernation in winter,
The sun rises to a new golden age and the sod sees sprouts bloom in their domain.

Seasons In Love - Spring

A soil well rested after winter`s sleep of death
Waiting anxiously to receive life`s new breath
Seeds of potentiality sown, laboriously planted
Not knowing whether fruits to them will be granted

Blind, creative forces of nature flood the earth
Soon, many a wondrous creature will be given birth
Plants and animals themselves faithfully reproduce
But a greater miracle the heavens will also induce

Phoenixes use the souls of men as a nesting ground
Their fiery selves resurrect from their burial mound
A new beginning, birth of warmth and hope in the heart
They slowly boil the blood with their alchemical art
