COMINGS AND GOINGS IN
THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES

In all life’s seasons,
Each day has its three
To be: yesterday, today,
And its tomorrow:-

Today was yesterday’s
Tomorrow, and will become
Tomorrow’s yesterday,
Which will become a today:-

No matter the day or
The season, give God the praise
For today, which was yesterday’s
Prayed for tomorrow:-

Thus, be the blessed days
That are bestowed upon us
In travelling and overcoming
Life’s trials and tribulations:-

THE LYNX

That black cat, I spy - he licks the puppet all over.
The fox’s red fur feels not the imposition nor
the puppetmaster’s paw, but the red fox,
my prey, feels the crunch of its bones, insanity bleeds,
after the toilsome run from my teeth.
My teeth chatter, cold and cruel, terribly hungry
to rip up a carcass, to chow down
a soul. I eat the meat raw.
Its blood is my foundation -
I powder my nose. The cries of my prey
with stuffing and gravy. Yes, let’s do
Thanksgiving. Like me, the black cat
defiles a fox. We are both satisfied.

Premium MemberAdorned With Spring Glow

Season am I that nurtures Nature
Toward budding and blooming feature
With wondrous creativity force
Birth-filled showing God as blessings’ Source.

I’m a period for sprouting green leaves
Reverberating harvest of sheaves
Midst vegetation’s abundant reign
Bulbs and crops along fruitful terrain.

See me adorned with daffodils’ glow
Radiating tulips’ fresh show
As avian influx brings blessed hope
Spring birds serenade my entire scope.

Delight now in my revival quest
Restoring with flourishing zest
Thriving blossoms of colorful grace
Marked by thanksgiving and wondrous praise*.

*Psalm 150:6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

The Ode To Turkey Joe

’Tis a fate and one to fear
Whenever it’s this time of year
I’ve heard the tales but where to hide
Don’t need a most delicious side

Don’t want to be this dinner’s dish
My bones to pluck and make a wish
So stuffed and full of bread and sage
There’s hell to pay and war to wage

I cannot face another threat
                               Another lottery to bet
Will I end up a centerpiece
                   A succulent and flavored feast

’Tis my fate and one that’s clear
The gunshots nearing, I can hear
My feathers ruffled, breast to sigh
             Thanksgiving day, I’ll say goodbye

The Happy Pumpkin

I found you in the market
Your eyes lit up with a glow
I sat you on the pouch
Putting on a show
With ghosts and goblins
Laughing and screaming
The wind flicking with eyes gleaming
Trick or treat was said
Then faces of delight
With doorbells ringing
And children singing
It was a Hallow night
Witches, Vampires and more
Came knocking at the door
Jumping through piles of leaves
Crossing streets for candy treats
Along came Freddy
With swords for fingers
Then Jason came by
With a mask of horror
All running by my flickering eyes
Then darkness came upon my light
I came back to life
On Thanksgiving Day
Then they gutted me out
becoming a pumpkin pie
Then a turkey flew by
The table was set
A touchdown was made
All seats were filled
And a prayer was said
Then the turkey was gobbled down
I felt whip cream
Upon my brow
I knew this was

The Luckiest Bird Around

Strutting about ruffling my wings
As everyone else gathered around in rings

Seeing the farmer sharpening his cleaver with cheer
Made my body shake and fill with fear

I let out a screech and puffed out my chest
Oh! No! Not me, you're not getting close to my breast you pest

Kicking up dust and praying he wouldn’t stop
But to my surprise, off my head wasn’t chopped

To the freezer he went for a package of Rib-eye
I jumped with joy with a glimmer in my eye

Strutting around and dancing a hoedown jig
Maybe next year it will be the barnyard pig

Happy Thanksgiving

Premium MemberWhite Meat

It's getting hot in here,
   350 degrees,
      picked clean, and stuffed.

Keep the meats separated, turkey!
   Some like dark meat.
      Some like white meat.

Segregated even on Thanksgiving.

Yams or sweet potatoes,
   Mashed or baked,
all turkey is best with trimmings and gravy.

Yet, people just want to carve us up,
   divide us,
      and fight at the table.

Pardon you!
   Pardon me!
Had we seen Grace, we would be running free,
together,
   of one body,
      and thanking Christ.

Wild Turkey

In November I'll keep a low profile
Humans kill my kind so I must use guile
If I gobble to a mate
I'll be on a dinner plate
I detest living this muted lifestyle

I am a North American Wild Turkey
Thanksgiving Day is freaky and quirky
Try some cock-a-doodle-doo
Put chicken on your menu
My meat is too lean to make good jerky

Last year I lost my buddy, Fatso Fred
Saw tail feathers fly and knew he was dead
Chosen cuz he was plump
Got whacked on a tree stump
Had his stomach stuffed with yellow cornbread

In a few months I'll have to be wary
Being a turkey is very scary
With thanks I'll be toasted
But fear I'll be roasted
Served with yams and a side of cranberry

Premium MemberPreserved In My Breath

In motion through all spiritual existence,

my warm, cool, tendrils leave a trail through long distance

under the shadows of the cosmos in peaceful coexistence.

I sigh with devotion, the beauty nature has become with my assistance.

I touch and caress you without any resistance.

I look at creation, a sweet, innocent child, and I love the way it moves.

My Warm, cool, tendrils leave a trail through long distance,

feasting in pristine, faith, and Thanksgiving. Humanity approves.

Premium MemberThe Leaf and the Tree

Once,

A conceited spring leaf, with pride in its heart

For

Its vigor and its beauty

Told

The tree, how important it and its sibling leaves were,

And that without them naked the tree would have remained

Having no

Foliage, that so majestically the tree had dressed which, not only

Oxygen supplied to the tree

But

Also protection from the wind and for the birds a place to

Make their home.

The tree, after the leaf its long monologue had finished,

Turned towards it and asked with a sardonic smile:

“Where would you be, my newborn friend, if I were not

Around

For

To provide, my branches for you to grow on

And

Nourishment from my roots that are hidden in the

Ground? *
