The Ode To Turkey Joe

’Tis a fate and one to fear Whenever it’s this time of year I’ve heard the tales but where to hide Don’t need a most delicious side Don’t want to be this dinner’s dish My bones to pluck and make a wish So stuffed and full of bread and sage There’s hell to pay and war to wage I cannot face another threat Another lottery to bet Will I end up a centerpiece A succulent and flavored feast ’Tis my fate and one that’s clear The gunshots nearing, I can hear My feathers ruffled, breast to sigh Thanksgiving day, I’ll say goodbye

Turkeys are so beautiful, such sorrow I feel for Turkey Joe. When I gave thanks, I made sure I gave a toast and thank them for making Thanksgiving dinner a gift! I too made a tribute.... Happy Holidays! :D

Too bad we didn't have ostrich or emu for Thanksgiving, there would be a little less of both of them but a lot more turkeys still gobbling (lol) Happy Thanksgiving, Mike!

The first five years of my life I spent in Cyprus. Behind our home were fields when I was 4 became aware of the shepherd and his flock of sheep. My mother used to ask Kyriakos if he would mind cutting our turkeys head for Christmas lunch. He did and i happened to walk to the back and saw a headless turkey going bananas round the house until it flopped down dead. Tearfully I asked dad, Where was his head, was he dead, oh no my dad said he gets it back after Christmas! Congrats on POTD H&B Jen

Aw, this is sad really!! My first Thanksgiving as a new bride I cooked a turkey for my husband's family, at eighteen years old; I, a vegetarian weeping, gagging! It was the last time too, and that was over 45 years ago. My husband has cooked every turkey since. Poor Joe!! My dad killed our turkey us kids deemed a pet named 'Clicker' when I was four or five. I was certain that stuffing was the bread I had lovingly fed to him! That was one memorable Thanksgiving. Us kids weeping around the table!
